According to old physical anthropology it is 3-6

Here I count 6 http://humanphenotypes.net/

3 Negroe, Mongoloid, White
More common to split the australoid from the negroe then there are 4, on humanphenotypes they split the native american from the mongoloid and also the khoisan from the negroe so 6

But I think according to old physical anthropology there are not more then 6

How many are now with genetic anthropology and genetic population studies? Maybe we could split the AASI from the australoid if you can split the native american from the mongoloid and the khoisan from the negroe?

In the case of human beings (Homo sapiens), modern specialists affirm that the use of the term race to refer to each of the diverse or different human groups is inappropriate, and it is considered that it is more appropriate to use the terms ethnicity or population to define them. . Furthermore, modern scientists consider that to refer to human beings, biogenetically, "races" do not exist, these are only social interpretations.

Genetic studies pretty much confirm those old racial divisions. They just call them different terms but the essence remains the same. Instead of Negroid they say Sub-Saharan African, instead of Mongoloid and Caucasoid they use Eastern and Western Eurasian. There's also South Asian, Oceanian and some other things. "Race doesn't exist" is a leftist universalist statement, far from neutral because it was popularized in the wake of the Holocaust, decolonization and the Civil Rights movement.

If we`re talking human races then two: Europeans and Asians. Native Americans fall somewhere inbetween those two.

Caucasoid, Mongoloid, SSA and Oceanian are the 4 main races. You can eventually add to, Amerindian (mix of ancient Eurasian ANE + East Eurasian). The rest is pretty much all intermediates of some kind (ancient and modern) and/or some more specific isolates (Pigmy, Khoisan, Australoid/Onge/Papuan, Siberian,...)

it's easy to check for which are the most particular populations in terms of genetic coordinates: take all populations and see where they plot (to see the clines they form and to exclude the ones that are a mix of others) and the distance between them on vahaduo.

I see these extremes among human populations on the 2-dimensional plot (PC1 & PC2):
- leftmost point: Mbuti
- lowest point: Han_Zhejiang
- highest point: Sardinian
- rightmost point: Lithuanian_VZ

while these populations look like extremes of smaller specific locations on the plot as well:
- Papuan
- Saami

and strictly by the distance some other populations might be observed, though probably most are found just in a cline between these mentioned by me above

In American layman's terms that might confuse Brits, because they use the words Asian and Indian differently:

White, Black, Asian, Indian, Australian.

Traditionally they were just 3, white, black and yellow.

Longbowman supported a breakdown of 7 or 8 in a thread he made.

I make it 4 cause im a simple man and don't want to overcomplicate things.

I like to use sub-race or "adapted population".

So SSA are a different species?

Europeans (TSI, CEU, BASC etc) are the most distant from Chimps, even more than East Asians. SSA the closest, as expected.

Great knight move. But I would say that people have 1 race. It's a queen and a checkmate.

Conservatives and liberals = 2 races. They later merged to form the black, asian and african races.
