Thanks, most are from Hawick in the borders but I don't think differences between Scotland and N England are that noticeable.

That's surprising, but I guess in the Borders there's a lot more overlap than the rest of Scotland.

I think in Scotland there may be some regions with more distinct traits, something to expect in a country that has many isolated communities. Like the rest of the UK I think the east/west gap is more significant.

I wouldn't say these people look distinctly Scottish at all, which makes sense considering they are from the SE borders which historically was the Anglo part of Scotland and has had a fair amount of mixture with their neighbours over the border.

I also wouldn't say there is a distinct "Northern British" look, even in places like Newcastle there are people who couldn't fit in Scotland, Alan Shearer and Paul Gascoigne being good examples.

Even in Corrie and Emmerdale most of the actors and actresses look distinctly unscottish, but I would say there is a distinct Northern English look.

Some of the pictures are missing now but one guy looked distinctly Northern English, one woman reminded me of Maddy Prior, the top guy reminds of Bill Oddie.
