He can fit in many countries. He can pass in Ireland but I don't think he has a unique Irish look and he looks German no problems.

Can you give me an example of someone with a unique Irish look?

He looks more Scottish imo, some Germans can surpass many English in terms of UP traits, anyway brunn and minor dinarid.

Someone who looks uniquely Irish looking to me is Brian O'Driscoll.

or Peter O'Mahony

There are plenty more but these are the first I could think of. I would just guess they were Irish if I saw them walking down the street.

Or someone like Paul O'Connell another rugby player.

There are many that I think look obviously Irish to me but just to give you some examples.

Brünn. More English looking than Irish, imo.

It's not that the man doesn't pass in Ireland just that it's not a uniquely Irish look and he can pass in other countries equally. Peirs Morgan's father's side is Irish and his mother has Irish, Scottish, English and 1/16 Portuguese.

If I see him walking I would think he’s Irish

How familiar are you with Irish people? Have you even been to Ireland? This man can pass in Ireland no problems but he passes in plenty of other places and the fact that he is German logically proves that.

Where do you live? Maybe Irish are by far the best fitting group with a significant presence in your area.

I actually do think the OP looks quite Irish. And it is ironic how Piers Morgan doesn't have any (recent and known) Welsh ancestry among all that, given how Morgan is actually a Welsh surname.

Morgan is relatively common in Ireland and people with that surname could be of Irish origin or Welsh origin. There are some Irish Gaelic names that were "anglicised" to Morgan.

There’s a big Irish community in Canada so I can see some common traits, but you indeed need to live in Ireland to be able to distinguish with a lower error margin. The man strikes me as Irish but could be anything in the UK

Thanks for the info, because I thought that the COVID cultist was just Irish (although he speaks in a posh English accent). It's crazy that he has a *Welsh* surname, though.

ETA: I posted this before I read Grace's post and TC's post. Another mystery is solved.

I looked up some ancestral names from your link. I learned a new word, "rapparee", Magilla guerrillas in Ireland.

All I'm saying is that it is a phenotype that is not just Irish. He could pass equally well in any British country but obviously Germany, Belgium etc. This man no doubt has a very German name. There are some Germans that look obviously German and likewise some Irish that look obviously Irish. This man is not someone that would look foreign in Ireland of course but obviously he doesn't look foreign in Germany either.

On this forum however people have very strong biases on what populations look like. Many Irish that I post and people think they just look Irish and can't pass anywhere else when it is obvious to me they pass in other countries. Some Irish do have a very strong Irish vibe and I think they look more uniquely Irish. Many however have crossover with other populations.

This GAA player for instance doesn't look just Irish (but still a common look in Ireland) but I think passes well in a lot of other countries name is Ciaran Kilkenny (super Irish name). :) And there are many more Irish like that than the more unique looking ones.
