Bye bye freedom of speech. And low iq morons are happy about this

You want more not less freedom of speech

Why this happened? American government can't control tiktok

And

Tiktok was getting more popular than American social media sites like Instagram, Facebook especially if we are talking about younger crowd

This bill would be used to shut sites government don't approve of

America have so many problem yet this unite representative?

American should go to street and protest and protect their freedom of speech. You are nothing without it

I support banning TikTok if for nothing else but the fact that zoomers going "skibidi toilet rizzler" and doing reaction videos is not and never has been even remotely funny.

reaction videos have been the primary source of cheap, effortless content that gets views since youtube was first created in 2005. Also every video streaming site has copied tiktok (especially youtube w/ youtube shorts) so i doubt skbidi toilet rizz is leaving anytime soon..

Let me dream.

I would do anything to rid the world of skibidi toilet rizz.

The real reason why they want to ban tiktok is because of the abundance of anti-Zionist videos.

Ted Cruz's two reasons given was the following: these videos promote self-harm and anti-Israel propaganda.

Those were the two examples given on why tik tok was a problem.

Oh, the irony is rich! Here we have folks parading their concern for children's safety while fervently defending a platform that practically sells them off like products on a shelf. And let's not forget the cherry on top – indoctrinating them with political and economic agendas while making them easy prey for predators. Quite the spectacular display of hypocrisy, wouldn't you agree?

Here is Ted Cruz's desire to keep American children safe from 'anti-Israel propaganda', which, of course, are videos kids just love to watch, you know. They just scroll past political videos. But what if they do see so-called 'anti-Israeli propaganda'? Every anti-Israel video I've seen on Tiktok simply reveals crimes committed by Israelis or discusses their crimes.

Pro-Israeli propaganda good, though... cuz... that's okay.

Guess who AIPAC (Israeli Lobby) loves? Ted Cruz.

There is far worse than 'anti-Israel propaganda' but that's what's important and that's why Tiktok needs to go.

Oh, it's just delightful how your obsession with Israel blinds you to everything else, especially your supposed dedication to protecting children. Your tunnel vision is truly a sight to behold.

Who are you talking to? Please quote the person you're addressing.

Got to protect the children... It certainly has nothing to do with hiding Israel's war crimes from the public...

Guess who wants to buy Tik Tok and take a guess at his background.

Former Treasury Secretary Mnuchin is putting together an investor group to buy TikTok (https://www.cnbc.com/2024/03/14/former-treasury-secretary-mnuchin-is-putting-together-an-investor-group-to-buy-tiktok.html)

KEY POINTS

Former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he is putting together an investor group to try to buy TikTok.

“I think the legislation should pass and I think it should be sold,” Mnuchin told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Thursday.

Mnuchin’s statements come shortly after the House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a bill that would force ByteDance to divest TikTok or the social media site would face a ban in the U.S.

Nah. "It's for the children" is always the camel's nose under the free speech tent when it comes to censorious control freaks. Never mind that extant laws and rules cover that. Take the Canadian "muh hate speech" edict (please) as further proof of this lame mentality.

As they say on TV Tropes: "Arson Murder and Jaywalking"xD. The idea that 'propaganda' against a country with a very questionable human rights record is the most urgent issue along with child protection is risible in the extreme.
