What do you think about couchsurfing

Basically you stay at a stranger house. There are sites for it. Good way to save some bucks while travelling. Well you can also get to eat home made dishes and host can also act like a guide

Anyone ever have tried it?
How was your experience with it if you did?

I received and met many couchsurfers before I got married, since college years, but I never got to use it for myself to stay at someone's place, so I only hosted - I was working all the time and didn't have any money to vacation back then. but I did enjoy speaking and spending time with people from many countries - US, Germany, Poland (a lot of Poles), Turkey, Russia, Latvia, Belgium, France (a lot of French as well) and others that don't come to my mind now
