Has anyone found that uploading a merged file to MH works better than an individual data set?

Also, why was Beowulf banned?

Beowulf has banned himself many times, I think they do it to study or undertake projects without getting distracted

Do you know why they grouped Scottish with Welsh? It seems like nothing makes sense.

Such a dichotomy. I don't expect them to get it right for me.

No Irish at all, but I have new French ancestry?

This was an Ancestry file sent to them. I have a G25 and raw data from 23/me also on an old computer.

My Heritage was always correct for me, if you looked at the. IG picture. Things got messy in the fine details. Some things are better, some less so with the update.

Update is a mess, one before summer was much better but people complained because they were not "diverse enough" and got boring results :picard2:

What this update improved incredible is a Jewish thing. Before the update MH assigned Jewish randomly, often just like a modeling random southern component. Now you only score it if you really have such ancestry, just like on 23andme and AncestryDNA.

East European: 32%

Danish: 18.8% (Denmark, Skane, Sleswig-Holstein)

Dutch: 4.5%
Ashkenazi: 3.1% (Germany, France, Netherlands)
Balkan: 2.7%
Ashkenazi (Poland, Hungary, Romania, Czechia): 2.4%

My mother doesn’t get Lithuania as a region on 23andme but has Polish/Belarusian relatives who do. Makes me wonder if the “Lithuanians in Lithuania and some in Poland” just might be legit.

Does anyone here have a merged file result from Ancestry and 23andMe to compare their own result with a direct MyHeritage DNA test result? Or just Ancestry or 23andMe separate from MyHeritage?

Do you think my French genetics are that diverse that I would only end up 7% French? I mean how deep is this ancestry going 800 years it's definitely not three four or five hundred years. Also both companies can't be correct meaning ancestry giving me 38% French or this company giving me 7%, so which one should we trust? As far as I know the sample database for ancestry is so much greater than this company that they would be able to more accurately do identity by descent connections.

DNA testing companies only go back about 6 generations. It will depend on how you match their sample panels. MyHeritage has increased their samples but I'm not sure whether companies can really give good fine scale results. 23&Me appears the most accurate but that is because they haven't gone too finescale. Also countries like France are very varied in genetics and that is why French people will get a very varied result. It's obvious a lot of countries have a lot of overlap. How much French ancestry do you have and where is it from?

My father's father (Gerard) is French(Canadian), and that paternal line left Normandy, Rouen, to Canada in 1636. The autosomal DNA on that side is varied though, I'm sure, with 569 original French immigrants to Canada that I have record of, almost all from mid 1600's. 23andMe links me to their samples as primarily from Aquitaine, however, which is SW France into Basque territories. I'm the first generation born from France without a French first name. My Dad said he gave me an English name in memory of his mother. Mom, being Swedish, wanted to name me Erik. Oh well. English first name, French surname, and I'm mostly Swedish. Go figure. I should change my name to Bjorn Rogerson, since my dad's name is Roger? :)

I'm now the 12th generation on my male bloodline, born in North America. My dad is at least half French, genetically, so I'm not sure how I get such a mix with MH. My Dad's Mom has an English surname, but it went to England from France with William the Conqueror. It was Pinel at that time, a Biblical name from Penuel, which meant "from the peak"-- apparently the family guarded the southern border of France from the Roman Empire a long time back, according to an in-depth family report I found online of the name, which became in England such as Pinnel, Pernell, Parnell, and Pannell. Is is probably my most prestigious line genealogically, with lots of royal roots in England.

This is their best version so far because they finally managed to provide a stable model producing similar results between people from the same nation. Previously, there were vast differences in the percentages and the regions - one scored Balkan, another Eastern Euro. Now from other's people results, I see very similar situation.

Similar to AncestryDNA - they are top two now. I liked it that it is not conservative in terms of genetic communities, as well as they are listening their customer feedback.

This is a quantum jump in consistency compared with the estimations before (below).
And the results also fit perfectly with the genealogy research - father totally Lower Saxon, mother‘s ancestry a small part further East.
Even Ancestry did not find my EE components, but astonishingly MyH did.

We are all estimated more Dutch than German, well, prob. due to lack of references.
