View Full Version : Do I have Indian/Gypsy ancestry?

When I go to do a new calculation with my coordinates, it usually doesn't appear at first, but every time I addapt it (remove Sardinian, Basque and Basque-like samples) the Indian/South Asian appears, it's always 0.2 - 0.4%, and it's ALWAYS there, if I remove it, another one appears, and that's the same for ILLUSTRATIVE DNA.
My newest G25 calculation with the official database:
Target: Eurafricanid_scaled
Distance: 0.8673% / 0.00867328
46.8 Sub-Saharan_African
24.4 Spanish_Castello
21.6 Spanish_Menorca
3.2 Chaldean_Iraq
2.6 Amerindian
1.2 EmiratiA
0.2 Brahmin_Uttar_Pradesh_Braj

Try ancestry.com, its great for gypsy ancestry, even if you are 1% it will tell you 1% roma gypsy

Could be a noise, but anything under 1% can be hard to determine. Mind sharing the calculator?

Ancestry It's not really that accurate for Latinos not only over estimated my native ancestry but also SSA . neither gedmatch or any g25 Calculator puts me 4% SSA.

might be, but for me its good, because they are the only who clearly tell you if you have gypsy ancestry, and nearly very correctly how much

What do you get for South Central Asian on Eurogenes K36? Check your painting function to see where it shows up and what it was/is running with.

It's literally just the official dataset minus the Sardinian and Basque(-like) samples and, of course, with all the SSA and Amerindian samples I match lumped together to fit in the signature.

Try to find the painting on the k36 for your South Asian and see what it mixes with if it's the same group and you might be able to figure out how you got it

Yeah just run it and you can easily find it because it's all color coordinated and then you can see what it's running with and then you can see if it's repeatedly running with the same groups if it shows up a few different times on a couple chromosomes it may run with the same group like I have Siberian that runs with the native American
It's also helpful because you can see the largest chunks that you get of some smaller groups like for me African is one of the smallest but I have some large pieces on different chromosomes so it's interesting to see where it came in I can show you I think if you use the MDLP W22 or the k23b it shows the African quite well.
My sub-Saharan African runs with of North Siberian, West Asian, Southeast Asian and the Near East, primarily those four, and on some chromosomes it's running with Native American. I can see that the Pygmy runs with South American Indian in mine also.

My South Asian is very similar, if not the same as the Fennoscandian, so it's not really possible to tell appart from each other.

If they're the same color one of them I believe is coming from the top for example the red for me is pygmy but it's coming from the top of the chromosome and then the second red one that comes from the bottom is probably the sub-Saharan that's how I see that color chart when you have two of the same colors the one on top is coming down the one on the bottom is going up. I could be wrong but I think that's how it works.
