I transferred my mom's MyHeritage raw file to FTDNA to see what ethnicity estimates she would get.

here are the results:

And here is me vs her:

Any thoughts?

FamilyTreeDNA definitively has one of more realistic calculators

Sadly, I can't seem to transfer my dad's file successfully... It says there was an error transferring the file TO FTDNA... When I try to click the Upload File button on the dashboard, it just reloads the page :/

From what I read online, it might have glitched it forever.

You can probably fix it by contacting with the support.

I already did - waiting for the response. But by what I read online, people say even support couldn't fix the problem for them, as it was some kind of issue with the system code that thinks the file was already uploaded or something... Still, I hope it won't be the case.

I could fix it for my dad once thanks to the support.

I hope they fix it. I've heard FTDNA results are closer to reality than MyHeritage ones.

They were ok for me while MH gives me around 14% Balkan.

In my case, they seem alright, except for the West Slavic part - I find it weird as a Bulgarian. 29 % is too much, isn't it ?

Even for my mom... I wonder what is it mistaking it with?

Thats slavic portion of your autosomal DNA, nothing strange. Look at FTDNA myorigins as any other G25 calculator.

Shouldn't it be under Balkan, as the slavic component is likely Southern Slavic?

No, it is not. Even, I have 34% Western Slavic on FTDNA. I believe, you and your mother would probably have scored higher Western Slavic (or some other elements such as Baltic etc...) if you took a FTDNA test kit. Yet, I don't think, their algorithm is good. Ancestry seems better.

I think their Balkan is more preslavic, since Greeks and Albanians i have as matches usually score close to 100% Balkan.

Congrats! A lot people throw share to FTDNA for what ever reason but their DNA estimates were MUCH closer than what AncestryDNA gave me.

So it's not a bad company after all.

I've taken Ancestry, too. Will compare when my results come out.
