Interesting, but wouldn't Italians be closer to these groups than South Americans? (I'm referring specifically to phenotypes, because in terms of autosomal DNA the answer is clear)

No because Romanians have some Mongol genetics that creates that look, Italians don't really look that latin American but more west Asian

TBH, I don't quite see it in these groups. But it is true that some Romanians, particularly women, have Asian-like eyes.

It's only minor Mongol influence but it's enough to mark them out from similar people in France and Italy.

Some of them can pass as Turkish, but I don't see the groups passing.

Do you have a particular group from the OP in mind?

IMO, the only group in the OP that passes as Turkish is this one:

The other OP groups are closer to many other ethnic groups than Turkish.

Most of them look between Italian/Greek and Polish/Ukrainian, ones being closer to one end or the other, ones being in the middle, some look like straight up Indians, though.

In these pictures there are about 400 Romanians, so expect some 10 gypsies among them. Do you see more than 10?

There are no exchange students in these pics.

There is an occasional mulatto in Romania as well, particularly in cities with large universities. They can be Romanian citizens too.

10 seems about right.
