I'm excited to see also my matches there and have a better raw data too, i think with Ancestry raw data i can know my mtdna too!

Only if there is a program you can use to get your mtdna from the raw data. I'd be interested to see what your GCs are.

To really get a good mtdna classification you can get the full mtdna test at FTDNA but it's all money. It depends on how much you are interested in all this stuff. It's most probably more beneficial to get the Big Y 700 at FTDNA instead of MTDNA.

But Ancestry is definitely worth doing in my opinion.

That's true i forgot about it, with MH it was quite bad, my genetic groups were just, Spain , France and Algeria.

I wonder if i would get British related communities or only Spanish related ones.

i think i can use Jameslick to predict my mtdna, i'm okay with a basic result since i'm more interested in autosomal than haplogroups too.

That shipping price is ridiculous. The GCs on Ancestry are much more accurate and it is possible you could get an English related community if your English ancestry isn't too far back. On Ancestry I didn't get any GCs from my father. They were all from my mother's side but my brother did get a GC from my father.

I don't understand why the shipping costs are so expensive because when you do a test they are first sent to Ireland and then onto the US. You would think they could send them to Europeans from Ireland? Anyway that is disappointing. Keep an eye out for some sales in Europe. I know they have sales here in Australia.

The sale is also active on Amazon, so you could get free shipping there. That's where I bought one during the Mother's Day sale

Wow! Thank you nittionia. Yes, I just looked and it is the same $39 with free shipping (for USA Prime members though, I don't know about Spain) and one day shipping. I've already tested but I hope Beowulf can get the test.

Since the annexion of California Alta, New Mexico, Colorado. Nevada, Arizona, Texas etc. in 1848 that should also to those countries. :p

just paid 100 USD to 23andme, for my maternal grandma's test, since me and dad are already on 23andme and it will be easier to manage it this way, and I'm also used to their tools, where to download raw from, how to browse SNPs etc. can't wait to get her tested
