I wear a size 12 shoe most of the time. Sometimes size 13, depending on the brand, because I need the extra width in the shoe (my feet are a tiny bit wider than average).

Gosh, these days, it seems that every shoe manufacturer makes up their own sizes! Depending on the brand, I wear anywhere from an 11W to a 13 (all American sizes). I feel that this odd lack of unity among shoemakers makes comparisons difficult.
