I tried to keep the sample groups to 25 but there could be more I could expand it a little bit more maybe add 5 to 10 more samples including some more in the Ukraine area and North African and Central African and Asian and South Asian and Southeast Asian so some of the samples can serve as proxies for something you might know is north of you for example but not quite as far as Smolensk.

23andme why?

My 23andMe definitely shifts me more Norwegian it has me extremely close to one sample basically on top of the sample with my 7th chromosome lands on that sample it's the NOR101 modern scaled. Like people have probably told you each company extracts different genetic markers I think of the 600 something thousand each company gives you they only share 100 something thousand so when you combine them like I do in my merged data file you get a clearer picture even though it's not as clear as a full genome test it still gives me around 1.1 million to 1.15 million SNPs. You might be like me and they might shift you a little bit on Northwest just a little bit but it makes a difference in the calculators I think it's about a half a distance away I can measure it against my other one and tell you.

My father's mother's surnames most recently primarily come from Kent England with one of the four grandparents of hers going back directly to Yorkshire and if you go one generation further back to her great-grandparents surnames I recall a couple of them one went to a suburb of Bristol and one went to West Midlands along the coast I can't remember the name of the place and not far from maybe it's the Isle of Man? There's some Island between there and Ireland. I should send you some of her immigrant surnames from England maybe we share some common names I don't know. Anyway most recently three of the four surnames she inherited came from Thanet in the Kent area.

I'm updating this potentially a k45 but no more than 50 maybe I'll double this one right now I'm in the low 40s and considering other groups and I feel sort of neglectful of China so I'd like to include more than the couple that I've added today as well as Central Asia and some other nomadic groups. I've added today Morocco Egypt Dinka I need to add South Africa but I'm not sure which group yet and I've added Onge Tlingit Salami Udmurt Moldovan, Ukrainian, Uygur, Mayan, Bolivian, Iranian, Cornwall, Hamburg, and Krasnobarsky. I think I'll put in a couple more from America in the north and maybe one ancient sample of the people from the islands like the Bahamas because I have a group that always shows up from there but they don't have a modern sample.

Apparently all four of my French paternal lines closest to me are directly Basque including my paternal bloodline itself, apparently, but I'm not entirely sure how that is the case based on the tracker the Y-chromosome tracker tool online it brings me across from Moldova through Romania up through Slovakia and the Czech Republic through southern Germany down into southern France maybe to the Pyrenees and then up to Southeastern England through northern France on the east side so I'm not sure why genetic research shows that my y chromosome is French Basque when really it came directly out of the heart of the original territory of the Yamnaya.
