Maybe, maybe not, I think the Gaulish samples would, maybe, have a prediction close to the modern French samples if it was on Andrei's tool...

Now yes, a population can have variable pigmentation over time, this can be explained differently than by allochthonous contributions.

Take into account that on Hirisplex, there is no intermediate eye color category (or it is poorly detected), some iron age french samples don't have a good DNA coverage, so they don't have all the SNPs related to eyes, skin and hair color.

Also to take into account that the shade of brown seems lighter, mostly, than dark, which can be quite common among modern French people ("chestnut" color). So, for the hair color prediction, it's close to the hair color prediction for the modern french prediction.

I think that my 31 French samples would have obtained a prediction similar on Hirisplex to that of the +30 Gaulish samples therefore a simpler prediction, by discarding the shades of eye color (including hazel), but still by integrating the shade of brown color.
