I'm looking for a new graphics card so I'm looking for some advices. I do not need something extreme, just a graphics card so I can play newer games on my native resolution (1920*1080).
I have a Gigabyte P55-UD3L mainboard, Intel i5 760 processor, 8GB RAM.
Any suggestions are very welcome, price range ~150€/200$.
Thanks people!

I advise you to take Geforce GTX 550 Ti or the new GTX 560.

The fact that most games are now made also for consoles means that todays video cards are more than enough for current games. Nvidia cards tend to have better drivers so I would just pick whatever GeForce card is in your price range, it will work fine.

I disagree. I have owned both AMD and nVidia, and I would recommend AMD over nVidia right now. AMD has had great drivers since the 6xxx seires.

I disagree, for 200USD you can get a 6950 2GB, which will beat the 560 Ti(you want the 560 Ti, the 560 non-Ti is just a overclocked 460 with lower leakage due to having the improvements of the lower leakage of the 5xx. It is just a 460 in all terms).

@Heretik: What is the overclock you have on your 760? Do you have an aftermarket cooler? I suggest buying a Hyper 212+(can be had around 25$USD) and using that to overclock to 3.8-4GHz if you do not have an aftermarket. A 6950 is a great mid-range card(Mind you I am a computer enthusiast, running 2x6970s and plan on adding a 6950 to go trifire so my mid-range/high-end is a little biased) for around 200USD or less.

Well, my price range went up for obvious reason. It is almost impossible to buy a decent card for that money. :D
So, these are the ones in close competition and of various pricing:

Radeon 6850 ~ 170€
Radeon 6870 ~ 200€
Radeon 6950 ~ 230€
GFX 560 ~ 170€
GFX 560 Ti ~ 230€

I seriously hope one of these will last me 2 or 3 years.

Wow. Is that the cheapest price you can find in Croatia? I know European prices are always a little more, but I've seen 6950s go for less. Get the 6950, it currently beats the 560Ti, specially with driver improvements. If you ever wanted to crossfire the 6950 would also be the better choice. The 560-nonTi is a waste of money in my view. Do you have an after market cooler to try to overclock with? That MoBo is just fine to OC with.

I will not disclose this information out of shame. :D Let's just say it is unsellable. :D

It's not the lowest price but I need to buy with my credit card since I need the cash and do not wish to spend that much in one shot. :)

Okay, ya, buy a 6950. I also recommend overclocking the CPU, but a 6950 is the best choice out of your options.

Just a little side note. I looked at the specs for your motherboard, you can install any new graphics board yourself easily. Just pop it into the PCI slot from whence you take out the old board.

I do my own upgrades, have since I helped a friend build a computer back in 1978.

It's always cheaper too. Also, ya his board is a nicer board. Not extreme end, but it's a very nice board.

Thanks Pip, I usually install everything by myself too. ;)
