What component could contribute to this? I have pretty much blonde hair blue eyes and my skin in very fair if not exposed to the sun, but if I get a little bit of sun I look brown compared to most British. Could this be some further eastern component?

Maybe it has to do with your youth years in California.

You must have some Scando ancestry down the line.

I was gonna ask where you grew up. Your skin gets used to being toasted if you grow up in a hot climate. Not by a whole lot but by some.

It's probably the Western Hunter-Gatherer component.

Well, almost all ancient populations in Europe were mostly dark or semi-dark, and you simply tan a little more than the majority of your citizens, I think you are still in range

Familial pattern, familial genes, that's it.
