I do. Which, while it is accurate in my case, i don't understand how they consider Northern Portugal to be a separate cluster. It looks like they basically somehow detected i wasn't a northerner and assigned me to the general cluster.

Agreed. I will say, though, most of my matches fall within the spectrum of "central" or southern Portugal, although I’d argue that "central Portugal" is a fake concept—anything below Trás-os-Montes is considered south by most people. On 23andMe, I get more distant cousins from northern regions like Viana do Castelo, as well as Galicians, who mostly turn out to be Cuban. I was able to detect it because their match feature makes it much easier to identify people's ancestral locations. I'd bet you have similar.

I don't know how to see that info on Ancestry. On 23andme i can see but it's difficult to make any conclusion, because out of people who list 4 portuguese grandparents most don't list birthplace or live abroad. From the ones who do i notice a lot of southerners though.

I got 63% Spain and 37% Portugal. I think Spain is overestimated. Also, I went from 0.26% Senegal to 0.26% Mali on the hack results.

on Ancestry you can go to Match by location and see. I have one distant 3rd cousin from north Portugal. He scores 68% Portugal, 32% Spain. My other two that pop up are from south like my family. The rest are diaspora from US, UK, Germany, and Switzerland and it doesn't give many actual matches appearing so im assuming these are only the one's that reported location. For all we know the north pt guy is originally from the south, idk. 23andMe you can also search locations to some capacity - there ik some matches who have direct relation to north portugal / galicia.

i think it is not a question we have some more distant relation to north, and that the genetic is quite indistinguishable even in more prehistory. But more in modern context we have at least 5th-8th cousins from north bc of christian kingdom repopulation events.
