There is a lot to unpack with it. The website is a time suck where getting familiar with finding the archeological remains that you match and share SNPs with. It gives the IDs of most of the samples they use, so you can read up more research on those specific relatives!


For example, one of your deep matches shown in the video, CL121 was found in Collegno, Piedmont, Italy. An area associated at the time of his death with the Longobards. I didn’t find anymore burial information on him particularly. But I have found some interesting manners of death and burial methods for some of my own from googling the names. With enough of “upgrades on the website, there research they pulled from is given a link for you to follow.

It does use Gedmatch calculators such as G25 and Eurogenes K15, but there is a lot more to it than literally just basically simply that. Nothing wrong with being on the normal part of the intellectual bell curve, most people are

Therein lies where what I enjoy… finding out more about the matches themselves. Plots are great, but they don’t cover the context of those people lives like archeology does. The videos here are just fun, and I’m curious how it’s selecting the music and matches it shares.
