I stumbled across this forum while cruising the internet and noticed this thread:

They were completely wiped out!! So, we should be thankful that Apricity is up and running. I know how much we all missed it when it was down!

(The Original Dissent forum itself is not my type of place...I just thought it was an interesting story.)

What is Original Dissent forum all about, if I may ask?

I couldn't get the whole feel from just glancing at the homepage and they don't have a mission statement as far as I could tell.

From what I can tell, it's populated by angry Libertarians. :shrug:

That was a really good forum in its day. I remember its heydey in 2005 and 2006.

It had a lot of very smart people, even though it was pretty dry and not very "fun".

They lost all their archives and apparently no one was taking back-ups. Did they ever find out who destroyed their forum?

It had a "Christian-Patriotism" and white-racial emphasis; there were lots of libertarians and "extremely-skeptical"-of-the-federal-government types too. No wackos or deranged conspiracy-theorists. Mostly a cut-and-dry posting style. A very mature and sober forum.

It's from 2006, so I don't think there's any connection between that attack and this one.

It's from 2006, so I don't think there's any connection between that attack and this one.
