Planning a trip to Iceland...

My friend is attending a convention at Reykjavik in March and I may be going along for the ride. As I have no desire to visit the convention, I have decided instead to hire a car and travel along the route 1 ring-road and see what I can find.

I will be there for 5 days in total. Can anyone recommend me something to see?

It will be my second visit. The first time I didn't really go outside of Reykjavik. Time to go back and see less populated places.
