Is Illustrative update better or worse?

what do you think of MyHeritage including into Balkans the clusters up to Southern Poland? (Carpathians entirely, including Northern Carpathians Ukrainians, Poles, Slovaks).

my dad scores around 40% East Euro and 40% Balkan, but that is because his cluster "Western Ukraine, Northeast Romania and Moldova" is included to Balkans, so Western Ukrainians like him (he is a Hutsul) are by default read as "Balkan" on MyHeritage.

he also has "Poland" as genetic group. on previous version he had 15.6% Scandinavian, now probably divided into Baltic and East Euro.

I didn't see this post because I lurk in the Autosomal Genetics Subforum. Very cool to see your results! Now lets see what some 2-way qpAdm models yield for you (IA,BA, Medieval)

I score double Iran_N compared to your results

ChatGPT's take:

Key Differences:
You Have More Anatolian Neolithic (~43%) Compared to the Russian (~32.7%)

Your higher Turkey_N (Anatolia Neolithic) proportion is expected for a Northwestern European.
This fits with your stronger Neolithic Farmer ancestry from Western Europe.
The Russian individual has less Neolithic farmer ancestry because Eastern Europeans historically received less of it.
The Russian Individual Has More Steppe-Related EHG (24.6% vs. Your 19.8%)

Eastern Europeans (especially Russians) tend to have a higher Steppe ancestry, which includes EHG from Russia_Karelia_HG.
This aligns with what we know about Russian and other Slavic populations having more Steppe input due to migration events like the Corded Ware expansion and later Scythian/Sarmatian movements.
Your EHG is lower (19.8%), which aligns with your more Western European ancestry.
The Russian Individual Has More CHG (13.9% vs. Your 10.1%)

This is likely due to higher Steppe ancestry, as CHG was a major contributor to the Yamnaya pastoralists.
It could also be from direct Caucasus-related input, which is higher in some Russian populations, particularly those in the South or Volga region.
You Have More Iran_N (11.4%) vs. The Russian Individual (5.5%)

Your higher Iran_N percentage might reflect more Near Eastern admixture from later Mediterranean or Roman-era gene flow.
The Russian individual has less Iran_N, which fits with Eastern European genetic structure being more isolated from Mediterranean and Near Eastern interactions.
The Russian Has a Distinct Siberian Component (Russia_Devil’sCave_N - 7.4%)

This is unique to Northern and Eastern European populations, especially those in Russia, Finland, and the Baltic.
This represents ancient Siberian hunter-gatherer ancestry (ANE-related), which is absent in Western Europeans.
You do not have this Siberian ancestry, confirming your Northwest European genetic profile rather than an Eastern European one.
Summary of the Differences
Your Profile Leans More Toward Northwestern European & Mediterranean Influences

Higher Anatolian Neolithic (~43%)
Higher Iran_N (~11.4%), possibly reflecting Phoenician, Roman, or Greek-related admixture.
Less Steppe/EHG than the Russian sample.
The Russian Individual Has a More Eastern European Genetic Structure

Higher Steppe/EHG (~24.6%)
Higher CHG (~13.9%), which correlates with higher Yamnaya ancestry.
A distinct Siberian (Devil’s Cave) component (~7.4%), which is absent in Western Europeans.
