Ulster you say? I've ancestry from Armagh but they have Scottish surnames. I wonder what haplogroup is usually associated with the name Johnston.

It only means you match the reference population really well. Ancestors most likely in Britain or Ireland for the past 6 generations. But you would understand this better than me. :) Places like Southeast England are so similar to nearby continental countries that they would not get that high amount of British and Irish in their result. The reference population would mask earlier migrations in the UK.

Mine had Scottish surnames too (Burns and Gillespie). My haplo is usually associated with having a Norman surname I think idk about yours

yes
