Hello! I gathered 10 vepsian samples (from reichlab's Aadr dataset) in preparation for my next video. I ran them through qpAdm and through my own tool which is called Trait Predictor. Here are the results.
Let's start with qpAdm
138989
This model shows Vepsian's upper paleolithic DNA breakdown. I was slightly surprised by the super low Dzudzuana, which is actually on par with Udmurts and far northern russians. 40% Dzudzuana is very low for Europe, even Finns score more (42% I believe)
138990
Here's a mesolithic model for these same Vepsians.
As is typical for everywhere in Europe, the dominant ancestry component is ANF, although it is lower than in western europe or even elsewhere in european russia.
138991
In this model I attempted to estimate how much Uralic (Which is actually Iranic + Siberian) ancestry the Vepsians have and what portion of their ancestry is local Baltic substrate. I was inspired to make this model by this research https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0960982222018267
Here they modeled Volga_IA as 50% Baltic BA + 25% Iranic + 25% Siberian.
This was my intended goal with my model.

Now moving onto these Vepsians' phenotypes
138992
You might've noticed the first 3 exotic samples scoring light brown skin and otherwise having atypical pigmentation for northern russia.
This is what they score with Yseq phenotype predictor
