1) German
2) Ruthenian (Ukrainian & Belarusian)
3) Both in equal measure

Whatever the Wends were?

The Wends were Slavs, especially West Slavs.

Poles are one of the Wendish ethnic groups.

So it doesn't answer the question in any way.

Herr Adolf prevented that from becoming widespread, brah.

Jewish might be common but in small amounts, so I don't think that it is more widespread than either German or Ruthenian.

I read some where that poles have minor Jewish admixture similar to our SSA admixture 3-8%

Of course it does. I'd say Ruthenian/Belarrusian based on that. Don't think their relations with Germanics were harmonious at all during the Iron and Viking ages, bro, quite the contrary.

Most Poles don’t score any Jewish on genetic tests

On 23andMe the majority of Poles score trace amounts like 0.1% or 0.5%. Rothaer and me calculated this.

AJ admixture among my 23andMe relatives who are ethnically Polish and with at least 3/4 reported grandparents from Poland:

1 - 0.0%
2 - 0.0%
3 - 2.3%
4 - 1.0%
5 - 5.3%
6 - 0.1%
7 - 1.9%
8 - 0.2%
9 - 0.0%
10 - 0.0%
11 - 0.2%
12 - 0.3%
13 - 4.1%
14 - 0.0%
15 - 0.0%
16 - 0.0%
17 - 0.3%
18 - 0.4%
19 - 0.4%
20 - 0.0%
21 - 0.0%
22 - 0.0%
23 - 0.0%
24 - 0.2%
25 - 0.5%
26 - 3.6%
27 - 0.4%
28 - 0.2%

So out of 28 such relatives 17 have this admixture (ranging from 0.1% to 5.3%) and 11 don't have it. And the mean is 0.8% AJ.

Are trace amounts of 0.1% reliable? There’s probably a reason why Ancestry doesn’t include groups that score under 1%

Are trace amounts of 0.1% reliable?

The average amount seems to be 0.8%. At least among my 23andMe relatives (see above, I edited my post).

Maybe! Argentano created a spreadsheet with Latino 23andMe results and he invited me to edit this spreadsheet, so I can check it. BTW if you have any 23andMe results of Latinos send me them via private message and I will add them to Argentano's sheet.

What the hell is all that "Other" stuff?

Peterski
06-13-2025, 12:07 AM
Based on surnames it is a very close call (5.5% vs. 5.0% according to Olszak-Przytycki, if his data is reliable).

However some ancestry from these groups could be absorbed by Poles even before surnames became common.

I dont, I just answered the poll instinctively without thinking about it.

Of course, this is a more complex topic, but I took into account the average of Poles who mostly live in central/southeastern Poland - where the population density is the highest. i Think it's similar case with central-eastern slovaks

I'm mostly Polish/Rusyn/Ukrainian and a little Mordovian and German

However, historically there were much more Germans in Central Poland than Ruthenians in Central Poland.
