Recently I purchased the test from TA member Peterski. Everything worked fine. I got my results very quickly, even tho the order was over the weekend. :thumb001: (The price is 12€ for 2 reports via pdf)

The results correspond very well with those from 23andme, myheritage 2.0 and all the secondary calculators and additional tools I have already used.

In summary, it seems that my genetic “sweet spot” is only 1-200 kilometers further east than expected. However, it is still closer to reality than many other tools, which tend to locate my genetic-geographical center in Belgium or sink me somewhere in the North Sea. :D

My conclusion:
No surprises, no contradictions with other tests. No major outliers. As far as I can tell, it's a useful addition to the primary test. Pete was also very friendly, competent, sincere, welcoming, and helpful. If you're interested in these kind of topics and would like to get an additional report for further supporting information, you can't go wrong for 12€.

I think it is interesting that you can be modelled as basically 50/50 mix of NW German / SW German:

8.873 YR4G69RIHC = 54% Europe_DE_Hamburg + 46% Europe_DE_Oberschwaben

(...)

9.428 YR4G69RIHC = 50% Europe_DE_Oberschwaben + 50% Europe_DE_Schleswig

I think it is interesting that you can be modelled as basically 50/50 mix of NW German / SW German:...

You think so?

I think I need to see more reports to be able to assess it better and put it into context.

8.873 YR4G69RIHC = 54% Europe_DE_Hamburg + 46% Europe_DE_Oberschwaben

(...)

9.428 YR4G69RIHC = 50% Europe_DE_Oberschwaben + 50% Europe_DE_Schleswig

This distance figures remind me of k36.

I still don't know how this calculator works, neither much about the samples. Maybe it's a secret ;-) Of course, not all combinations make sense. I suppose it's the same as with OLS Calculators and PCA. As with others, I also assume that not all samples are highly accurate and have similar sample size.

Nevertheless, the results of the 2-way approximation indicate a useful trend.

I think the first one is the most logic combination:

6.829 65% Europe_DE_Lower-Franconia + 35% Europe_DE_Niedersachsen

The Franks were the dominant tribal group in continental western and northwestern Europe for a long time.
This is consistent with the more western results of other tests and also a good explanation for the 23andme ethnic group “French Netherlands". In addition, there were also strong southern and southwestern contributions in Lower Franconia, e.g., Bavarians, Suebi, and Alemanni. This would reflect my southwestern component very well.

Niedersachsen(core area of the Saxon tribes) has strong overlaps with Westphalia.
Simplyfied:
Westfalen (Western branch of the Saxon tribes) | Engern |(Center) | Ostfalen (Eastern branch of the Saxon tribe family)

In addition, I have almost certainly had one great-great-grandfather or two great-great-grandparents from eastern Westphalia, not far from the Lower Saxony border. So at least 6.25-12.5% DNA from this region.

Of my 6 lineages from the Ruhr region, 3 are native farmers with farm-owning lines. Traceable back to the Middle Ages, only marrying other farmes. Well documented. 1 great-grandfather comes from Greven, one lineage I have already mentioned. The last remaining lineage can also be assumed to have migrated from northeastern Westphalia.

Here is a graphical representation:
https://i.ibb.co/LhZrK3S5/3-ancestors-regions2.png

So i might be like 3/8 native regional farmes, 3/8 close to Lower Saxony border, 2/8 north-western Black Forest region.

So this combinations makes the most sense to me:

6.829 YR4G69RIHC = 65% Europe_DE_Lower-Franconia + 35% Europe_DE_Niedersachsen
9.019 YR4G69RIHC = 54% Europe_DE_Oberschwaben + 46% Europe_DE_Niedersachsen
9.038 YR4G69RIHC = 52% Europe_FR_Alsace + 48% Europe_DE_Niedersachsen:Freistaat-Oldenburg
9.179 YR4G69RIHC = 55% Europe_AT_Upper-Austria-Salzburg + 45% Europe_DE_Westfalen

This makes sense geograhic center wise:
9.227 YR4G69RIHC = 59% Europe_AT_Upper-Austria-Salzburg + 41% Europe_NL_Friesland
9.251 YR4G69RIHC = 54% Europe_DE_Niedersachsen:Freistaat-Oldenburg + 46% Europe_AT_Tyrol:North
9.254 YR4G69RIHC = 55% Europe_DE_Niedersachsen + 45% Europe_BE_Flemish-Brabant

I'd like to buy another test from Peterski for my paternal grandpa or my great grandma soon!

I agree with you leachim, your elaboration makes perfect sense!

Those are maps of surnames? This one is also good for Germany:

Yes, those are screenshots from KarteZumNamen.eu.
I wanted to illustrate it. There are several other pieces of evidence to support my assumptions, but I didn't want to produce too much text. Thanks, Pete...this site is really very useful. Especially the 1890 function. In my case, 1850 would have been best.

Your site totally matches with my assumptions and probabilitiy vallues. :thumb001:

btw: My K36 Aspie sheet supports my Franks hypothesis and also validates your report. Look at their "French" score compared to other western Euro samples. I ordered them from kinda north to south. Also NW Euro values are pretty high combined.

However French component in K36 is based on these HGDP samples, who are, if I remember correctly, mostly Bretons:

(so I don't think that French component has much to do with Franks because Bretons rather don't have Frankish admix)

French French_HGDP00511...

I have no idea how to extract any information of this ??sample numbers??

My assumptions were based on coincidental observations. I just have noticed that the two peaks for “French” are in Brittany (10.11) and Franconia (9.18). Otherwise, it is distributed very harmoniously across whole of northwestern Europe. I cannot evaluate the sample selection and quality unless I see obvious errors in the values. I just checked samples again and it seems to be disprooved:

French samples average around ~7.2
German (without Outliers) ~6,5
English: 7.2
Scots+Welsh: 7.8
BE/NE ~7.9
Irish ~ 8.0

Considering theese scores...

Swiss: ~7
Slovenia: 5.5 (?outlier?)
Czechia ~ 4.8
Slovakia ~ 4
Poland ~ 3

...it is much more likely it is something Celtic-related.
