Serbs, Croats “have most similar DNA”

SKOPJE -- A six-year long DNA research of the Balkan peoples conducted by Skopje Forensics Medicine Institute has showed remarkable resemblance among them.

“The analysis of the data has showed that residents of Macedonia have the most similar DNA with Bulgarians and Serbs, Croats with Bosnian and Serbian population while Kosovo Albanians have the fewest similarities with the others,” says Forensics Medicine Institute’s Dr Zlatko Jakovski.

The Macedonian scientists received samples and data from most of the Balkan countries, except from Greece, who refused to take part in the project. All the other countries sent DNA analyses of the victims who had died in their territory to Skopje.

“By using sophisticated computer technology we have compared the data from Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Kosovo,” Jakovski explained.

The research has been published in the leading world forensics magazines and the results will be used in criminal investigations in cases when victims are from the Balkans.

Jakovski pointed out that the research represented a very useful scientific work and that it had nothing to do with daily politics.

This is somewhat true as most of Orthodox Turks were deported from Turkey because they were Christian -- not because they were ethnic Greeks during the population exchange in the 1920s. So, as a result, I would wager 50% of ethnic Greeks have Anatolian/Turkish ancestry these days.

Text was out out of context, and presented nonspecific, Macedoinans are close to Serbian Serbs, and Bulgarians, while Croats are close to Bosniaks, and Bosnian Serbs.

Bosnian Serbs are closer to Croats, than to Serbian Serbs. :D

Bosniaks= muslim Croats
Bosnian Serbs = orthodox Croats and muts.
Serbian Serbs = Bulgarians

Serbian and Croatian identities are based on Christian denominations (Orthodox and Catholic). That is why when they became Communist (atheist), they started calling themselves Yugoslavs. But now that they went back to their Christian roots we see resurgence of these identities. It is highly possible that Shtovakian speaking Croats are actually Catholic Serbs, since ancient Croats spoke Kajkavian dialect, which is closely related to Slovenian... The "Croatian War of Liberation" or whatever was actually civil war between Orthodox and Catholic Serbs, since Shtovakian = Serbian. Obviously Catholic Serbs betrayed their country, so they are Croats now..
