The question is in the title. Only real coordinates. You can post the number and if you want you can add the region / population to it.

With modern averages my closest is French_Brittany at a distance of 0.021.

With individuals my closest is Welsh:WalesBK68 at 0.020.

OpenAI interpretation:

Anything around 0.02 is considered extremely close in G25 terms — it basically puts you right inside that population’s genetic cluster.

A match like this usually means:

you fall squarely in the Northwest European / Atlantic genetic zone

you’re similar to populations with a mix of Insular Celtic and Continental Northwest European ancestry

your profile fits the broader British–Irish–Breton genetic continuum

French Brittany often comes out close for people with a blend of British Isles and nearby continental ancestry, and Welsh individuals tend to represent the western British Isles side of that same continuum.

So the distances you got are totally consistent with someone whose ancestry is primarily English, Scottish, Irish, French, German, and Belgian — i.e., normal Northwestern European with a slight lean toward the Atlantic side.

Closest #1 ancient individual is England_EastYorkshire_MIA_LIA:I14107__BC_225__Cov_ 50.66% at a distance of 0.023.

#1 ancient averaged is England_PreBlackdeath_LateMedieval at a distance of 0.021.

From this list G25 Ancients (Ajeje Brazorf) - 22-09-2025 found here: https://www.exploreyourdna.com/samples.aspx, my closest is Distance to France_Hauts-de-France_Aisne_LaTene_IA:CGG022461__BC_440__Cov_94.7 6% at a distance of 0.022.

OpenAI interpretation:

What Your Closest Ancient Distances Show

You listed three extremely close ancient fits:

England_EastYorkshire_MIA_LIA:I14107 (0.023)

England_PreBlackdeath_LateMedieval (0.021)

France_Hauts-de-France_Aisne_LaTene_IA:CGG022461 (0.022)

Distances in the 0.021–0.023 range are very close, especially for ancient samples, which typically have more drift and noise. This means these populations sit exceptionally close to your core genetic profile.

Below is a breakdown of what each one suggests and what they collectively mean.

1. England_EastYorkshire_MIA_LIA (0.023)
Middle–Late Iron Age Britain (pre-Roman)

A distance of 0.023 to a specific Iron Age English individual means:

You cluster right on top of Iron Age British Celtic variation.

You share strong similarity with the populations ancestral to

the Britons of northern England

the broader Romano-British / early medieval British Isles

You likely sit in the same general zone as people descended from a mix of Celtic-related Iron Age and later Northwestern European inputs.

This result strongly reinforces your placement toward the Atlantic British cluster.

2. England_PreBlackdeath_LateMedieval (0.021)
Medieval English population average

This is even closer than your Iron Age sample, and it tells us:

Your overall profile is extremely typical for Medieval English ancestry.

You fit the blend that Medieval England already had:

Iron Age Celtic

Romano-British

Anglo-Saxon

later Norman/continental contributions

This is the genetic substrate of modern English, Welsh-border, and Cornish-adjacent populations.

Your distance indicates that you fall squarely in the range of historic English genetic variation around 1200–1400 CE.

3. France_Hauts-de-France_Aisne_LaTene_IA (0.022)
Northern French / Belgian La Tène Celtic

This sample represents Iron Age Gaulish (Celtic) populations from:

Aisne

Hauts-de-France

the Belgic region (culturally close to Belgium)

Your closeness here means:

You also share strong similarity with continental northwest Celts.

This aligns perfectly with having ancestry from northern France, Belgium, or the Germanic–Celtic frontier regions.

It places you in the same broad genetic continuum as populations on both sides of the English Channel before and after the Iron Age.

This fit confirms you’re not purely insular British — you also overlap with continental northwest European Celtic populations.

What All Three Fits Together Mean

Individually, they say a lot — but collectively they reveal a very coherent picture:

1. You cluster in the core of Northwest European genetic space.

All three populations represent the roots of:

English

Welsh

Cornish

Breton

Northern French

Belgian

Western German
…ancestry.

2. You match the “Atlantic–Northwest European Celtic + Germanic” blend almost perfectly.

A combination seen widely in:

England

Wales

Brittany

Belgium

Northern France

Coastal Germany

The Rhineland

3. You sit extremely close to BOTH sides of the English Channel.

Your closest ancient individuals include:

Iron Age British (0.023)

Iron Age Gaulish/Belgae (0.022)

Medieval English (0.021)

This is exactly what you’d expect for someone whose known ancestry includes:

English

Scottish

Irish

French (Nord-Pas-de-Calais)

German (Rhineland)

Belgian

4. Distances at 0.021–0.023 mean you are genetically “central NW European.”

These are incredibly tight fits — even many people from Britain or France don’t hit those distances with these samples.
