edmund scientific (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmund_Scientific_Corporation) has changed in the decades of my custom,

more noticeably in the past few years. :(

http://i42.tinypic.com/dg5p2q.jpg (http://scientificsonline.com/)

my son thoroughly enjoyed the many items
i had ordered for my own education/pleasure
in the decades previous to his birth.

with those same devices, now,
the girl-child exercises her brain.

Lark in the Morning (http://larkinthemorning.com/) is easily my favorite catalog of musical instruments. They specialize in selling bizarre, obscure and antiquated instruments from all over the world. You can get a catalog by clicking the link at the bottom right of their front page.

C. Crane (http://www.ccrane.com/) has some of the neatest and most forward-thinking technologies--and most are quite useful!

The C. Crane catalogue has been selling LED lighting for years ahead of its still-sprouting popularity.

Radio/broadcast geeks and survivalists would especially appreciate it.

Most of my shopping is done on the internet these days. Back when the economy was better I used to page through the Paladin Press catalog. It has many martial arts type books.
http://www.paladin-press.com/

Preparedness.com sends out a nice catalog. I like to see what other people think are important gadgets to acquire.
http://www.preparedness.com/

Frugals is just a web store, but it has nice Berkey water filters.

My absolute favorite for picking up cheap books: http://www.edwardrhamilton.com/

Great for finding "controversial" books (sadly, no long hard-copy):

Oh, I'll admit it; I've belonged for years!:

after all the years training to be a hero (http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?p=61307#post61307)
and (as a child) gazing from various vehicle-windows
as we travelled from one military-installation to the next (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Marine_Corps) -

hoping to see a star-ship rising on a column of light
that would lead me to the nearest space-port
and escape -

here i am trapped on a back-water planet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kardashev_scale#Current_status_of_human_civilizati on):

one of das herrenvolk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_race)
that ?!some how!? missed the last seeplus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faster-than-light)-transport (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstellar_travel) back to the home (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asgard)-world (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thule#In_Nazi_ideology) -

nostalgically gazing at images of a future from the past,
before i go out to milk the goats.

the grrrlz wished to reciprocate
by sharing a few of their favorite sources:

...the first remedial step
was to boil their toys (http://www.goodvibes.com/),
every day - before i left for work.

the second
was to install the new shower attachment (http://www.stockroom.com/b004.htm)
we purchased at the pleasure chest (http://www.pleasurechesttoys.com/) in hollywood.

One of my favorite catalogs for work related items, is the Grainger (http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/start.shtml?cm_guid=1-_-100000000000001097825-_-4624274663&cm_mmc=PPC%3A+Google-_-TPN+-+Brand-_-Grainger-_-grainger) catalog.

I also like seed catalogs. My favorite being the Raintrees Nursery catalog.

Another great catalog is the Dixie Gun Works catalog.
