View Full Version : are IllustrativeDNA coords they now provide different from the ones we usually use with Vahaduo?

do you know how can you get the "old" type coords? just tested mom (with MyHeritage) and wanted the good ol' Eurogenes-style coords for her, to be able to play around with Vahaduo custom calculators

They are using their own kind of coordinates nowadays which are not compatible with the real ones.
Better invest in the real G25 coordinates from the creator himself

thanks. I've uploaded already to Illustrative but will probably get the "real" ones as well. Illustrative does have a couple of nice tools to use, so that's ok, also to have all the kits in one place (got dad and maternal grandma there as well)

This new site uses real G25, they are working with Davidski.

you can use any set of coords with vahaduo. vahaduo isnt something thats only specifically created for G25. Any set of numbers can be compared with each other (provided they have an equal number of coordinates) in vahaduo. it's just a linear algebra optimization tool.

Is it different than G25 calculators? Are Hunter Gatherer results identical to IllustrativeDNA before the update?

One of TurkDNA's latest grifting and scam "update" was creating simulated coordinates for free instead of getting legitimate coordinates from Davidski or whoever. You have been scammed.

Yes, they are different.
If you want to download the coordinates from Illustrative, you can run them here: https://casperhub.dev/Vahaduo/
Click on the "New Illustrative DNA" button from source and put the downloaded coords in the target.
The results won't change much though.

Any idea what the story behind this Hungarian average is? It is slightly different than both the Davidski and Moriopoulos Hungarian average.
Cool site by the way, thanks for the link.

I am not sure where he takes the samples from, but the average is probably made up of the samples from the Illustrative PCA.

I'd guess from the official datasheet directly from their website:

It's interesting because (I'm referring to the G25 averages on the Casperhub Vahaduo site, not the IllustrativeDNA averages) the Hungarian G25 average that Casperhub has listed is not one that I've ever seen before. I suppose Casperhub could have identified the individual samples that IllustrativeDNA uses (for Hungarian), taken those G25 coordinates, and created their own G25 average for Hungarian. I believe that was what AnthrogenicaRef was suggesting. I'm guessing that other G25 population averages on Casperhub probably also vary from the official ones.

Sorry Opie, I did not get a quote notification and I just saw this.
I can't remember what the Hunter Gatherer results were on Illustrative before, so I'm not sure.
And no, I think the results (compared to other G25 calculators) are more or less the same. It just puts the whole thing together in a nice package/presentation. The samples all seem to come from Davidski and Moriopoulos (but they utilize only his non-simulated coordinates).
