It shows much more detail than the original one.

They should put it in a museum by itself to attract all the fools who hog the Louvre.
The queues round the block are just prohibitive to a regular art connoisseur.

This copy looks better than the original. Better details and a more friendly and beautiful face. :)

This is just awesome. They said it was made by his assistent, so how amazing is that?! There's nothing more beautiful on world than artistic inspiration.

Apparently she'll be in Paris with her twin for a few months and then go back to Madrid, where she'll occupy a place that's worth the find.

Madrid has a museum triangle that's one of the best art areas in the world (Prado-Sofia-Thyssen) and is not in need of tourists, but the appearance of it is going to boost visitors even more.

Apparently they were made almost simultaneously, maybe at the same workshop. Some even say this one could be previous because of the most defined landscape -whereas Leonardo's one seems to have the landscape line painted by heart, in a more undefined way. But it could simply be that this one has resisted better the passing of time. Now we know for sure that the sleeves were red and not brown, for instance. :)

Some hints point to Spanish painter Hernando Yáńez as the painter.

Yáńez's paintings clearly show Leonardo's influence on him from their collaborations.

The Prado presented the completed restoration of a work on Tuesday that it has concluded was a replica painted by one of Leonardo da Vinci's apprentices alongside the Renaissance master in his workshop.

"This is the oldest and most important copy of the famous painting known to date," Gabriele Finaldi, the Prado's director of research and conservation said.
