We also use blagodaram only for formal conversations but in common conversations we use fala which is what other exYu countries also use. But yes, quite similar. :)

How? Turkey has more to offer to the EU and is geo-culturally Balkans if we ignore religion. Armenia is some foreign country in the Mideast. But if Loki says the country is European, you're European. :)

I guess you can take it up with the EU of "how" and "why" they know that Armenia is within the European family of nations while Turkey is not. It is quite obvious to me since Europe is not interested in having an additional surplus of some 80 million Muslims within her borders. Islam and Europe are incompatible and are actually on a collision course. Always have been and always will be. Turkey not only did not step back from Islam (and will never do so in the foreseeable future as Islam is very deeply ingrained in the Turkish society), but with the present Islamist led government has actually deepened it.
