Yes, but it's quite different from the brimmed kind. It did occur to me that it looks more European, though I'm not aware of the different styles for each country.

I don't think they are a very good idea. :D This country would need to take into account two things: new uniforms need to be adaptable to the European climate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherlands) and to a tropical climate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caribbean_Netherlands). So the European uniform should look exactly like the tropical uniform but the two uniforms should be adapted to the specific climate. Furthermore they should be not too expensive, efficient, maintenance-friendly and of course a little bit intimidating (but not overbearing).

Maybe this Singaporean idea for the coast guard (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5d/Police_Coast_Guard_Uniforms_New.jpg) might work. (of course without the life vest)

Combine with it with regular Dutch Military Police (http://www.defensieuniformprivemuseum.nl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=149&Itemid=171&lang=nl) vests when the policemen are working at night, during winter/autumn (bad weather in general) or when guiding traffic and you're set:

It's a good looking outfit but it is somewhat militaty looking, I think brimmed hats look more civilian orientated. ;)
