If I didn't know who he is, I'd have said Greek. :p
I still don't rule it out.

perhaps he's a mix of mediterranean and cromagnoid, but his look is not common in Spain from what I' ve seen there.

Well, I guess that my saying that is because I can't help associating him with the Greek-Australian actor Alex Dimitriades. :D

For classification I would say Small-Mediteranean + Cromagnid
Count I was joking I don't care I don't like both of the teams very much

They have the same skintone, but the facial features are different.

(Of course I'm talking about the younger Dimitriades. He's changed now)

Fabregas has a look that is more distinctly Iberian (look at him next to Cristiano Ronaldo, they aren't that different minus non-European influences very slight in the latter).

First time I heard about him (when he was bought by Arsenal long time ago) I'd have sworn he was Greek, but I think it's due to the name.

I think he is a standard Gracile-Mediterranid (West Mediterranid) with slight Atlanto-Mediterranid tendencies and mild Cro-Magnid influences. The typical Iberian torero stereotype.

For not liking it, you have an avatar of a great Bulgarian in his best years at Barça. ;)

Francesc Fàbregas i Soler. A name more Catalan than the pa amb tomàquet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pa_amb_tom%C3%A0quet).

He is a overrated player. When he played in Arsenal , he was considered a world top class player , although he wasnt able to win many titles. Many though that he was as good as Messi:p. He is a good player but not top player.

Might not be Messi but he was a pretty good finisher for Arsenal

I'm not really acquainted with Catalan names. It just ended in -as and so I assumed he was Greek :)
There is a player in the belgian national team, Kevin Mirallas. Spanish origin, yet in France everyone was saying he was of Greek origin, just because the -as suffix

He's a very good player and would stand out as one of the best in every team other than Barcelona. Barça having him as a sub -or Spain now in the Euro- is a sign of quality.
If some of the considered great players in some European teams would be playing in Barça, you'd also think they're overrated.

I see now. But weren't all Greeks called somethingpoulos? :D
In fact, with modern Catalan spelling, his surname should be Fàbregues.
There's not an identifiable patronymic in Catalan surnames as there is in other languages of Europe (-poulos in Greek, -sson/sen in Swedish and Danish, -ez/-es in Spanish and Portuguese, -sky/-ov/-ic in Slavic countries...). There are rather some common suffixes, as in French or Italian, such as -ó, -í, and specially -er/-é for surnames meaning professions (Piqué means Quarryman). In a sense, we're more similar to the French in naming, them using -on/-in/-ier. We adapted some Spanish surnames, like Llopis from López, Peris from Pérez, but they're uncommon.
Many others are just qualities or placenames. Carles Puyol would be Charles Hill. :D

He's quite goodlooking. He can actually pass in Lebanon. (Not saying he's East-Med!) Just that I always commented that he looks like he can be Lebanese.

His girlfriend is Lebanese.
I agree with Comte Arnau. He looks pretty eastern Med. Uncommon, but not unheard of. Xavi is another example.
Passes as Greek. IMO Cyprus is even a better fit. Probably also passes in Lebanon as a non-Arabid influenced type.
