I have a passion for Cheese, there isnt a cheese that I have come across yet that I haven't enjoyed (apart from processed stuff!) It has so many flavours and textures and is so versatile that it is my all time favourite food and one that our ancestors have relied upon as a staple in there diet for centuries! So please post your fav cheese here and share !

Well I'm still on my English cheese kick from last year though I haven't really been diligent in terms of finding new ones to try. But my absolute favourite has got to be Applewood Smoked Cheddar. I think I would commit a serious felony just to get a wedge if we one day had a shortage of it here. ;) :D

Thanks for starting the thread Sigbert! I knew you'd come through! :p

Cheers!...Aemma :)

Cheese appreciation thread? Count me in :D

I just brought home a nice brick of Finlandia's Muenster. It's my favourite for making cheeseburgers.

I also have an enduring love of sharp, aged Canadian cheddar (http://www.cheese.ca/en/cheddar.asp?cheddar_sort=100&cate=PREMIUM%20AGED)

The goat-cheese from Jamtland is world class. And for some reason I love most cheeses that is un-pastured.

Unpasteurized cheese is the best! If you can source Milk that is from cows that are grass fed and unpasteurized then you have a whole complete food that you can live on which is also safe and natural and as our ancestors consumed it for millennia.

My family usually buy raw milk from a cow farm and only boil it in the old way. Pasteurized milk is far not so healthy and loses all its nutrition. Calves fed with
pasteurized milk die...

Here's another dairy lover. Well I have to be one, being Dutch, otherwise I would have a miserable life lol. Being a horrible chauvinist (:D) I like Dutch cheeses best (of course): Gouda is made of epic win and so is Leerdammer (or the cumin cheeses).

My favourite cheese differs by the week, my current fav is Dorset blue Vinney, it is a little bit lighter on the palette than some of the stronger Blues I normally like, but is a perfect "Summer" blue cheese! And it is nearly gone lol;)

I remember here we had type of cheese called "Estonian cheese". Don't know how much it had to do with the real Estonian brands, but I loved it!

P.S. Have you tried eating blue cheese with raisins and apples? Absolutely wonderful taste and combination!

In our region, mainly kashkaval, halloumi and akkawi (originating from city of Akka/Acre in Palestine, hence the name) are the most popular cheese. I wonder if other regions have this tradition where cheese is eaten with fruits [mainly watermelon]? I remember foreigners tend to find that odd.

White cheese and watermelon is a very traditional combo in our region in Turkey also.

I can't live without cheese, I like all kinds of them and Greece produces a lot of great varieties

but feta cheese with olive oil and oregano is at the top of my list

I would be happy even if all the food I could get was just bread and cheese
