How do you cook rice without it getting gluggy or burning to the bottom of the pot?

And is it actually bad for females to wear bras when they sleep?

Oh and what should I do about the mold on my ceiling? :(

And is it actually bad for females to wear bras when they sleep?

Heard it was bad and could cause you even cancer, but actually it depends on the size of your breasts and type of bra, imo. If your breasts are huge better wear bra to avoid their future "drooping" in some degree:D

How many "pure" proteins should contain the daily intake for females my age and my life style (no sport)?
And what is considered to be pure protein? Egg white or?

Have enough water and add some salt/vinegar,test regularly.Nowadays you get rice which does not get gluggy

And is it actually bad for females to wear bras when they sleep?
Yes,especially Playtex,breasts need rest

Oh and what should I do about the mold on my ceiling? :(
Now that is a tricky one,do not know, mold is a curse.

Which eye did Woden give up?

As far as I know, the only period account of this is in stanza 28 of the Völuspá. It reads:

Alone she sat out when the lord of gods,
Ōðinn the old, her eye did seek:
"What seekest to know, why summon me?
Well know I, Ygg, where thy eye is hidden:
in the wondrous well of Mímir;
each morn Mímir his mead doth drink
our of Fjölnir's pledge: know ye further, or how?

It's not explicitly mentioned here which eye it is, and I don't know of any other sources with give that information.

Which eye did Woden give up?

Just looked on all the pictures of Odin (well, not all, but most) and found that he seems to be largely represented as having lost his left eye.

How do you cook rice without it getting gluggy or burning to the bottom of the pot?

Get a wok.

And is it actually bad for females to wear bras when they sleep?

Apparently so. It's best to sleep naked anyway.

Oh and what should I do about the mold on my ceiling?

Buy some good mould killer from your nearest store or hardware store. Apply the the fluid to the effected areas. Wait the designated time for the solution to work. Rub off, or wipe off, the mould and solution.

You may have to reapply the solution more than once, but to prevent mould it is best not to dry clothes in the house, open windows throughout the day, etc, etc...

I don't know how it works abroad, but in Greece, the problem with BIO products is that:

a) BIO refers simply to the non usage of chemical fertilizers. The land, air and water can still be contaminated, however, and the seeds mutated.

b) Greek "BIO" farmers gave found ways (of course ) to cheat inspectors by introducing non-traceable amounts of chemical amounts into their crops.

This works as follows: they know in advance when the inspector is going to come and take measurements, so they calculate the exact amount of chemical that will have dissipated by that day.

If all else fails, they simply bribe their way into the BIO market. ;)

SO:

Which eye did Woden give up?

In the seventh-century weapon dancer/Odin helmet-plate die from Torslunda, Sweden (look for a photo of this one, it is fantastic), the right eye is gone. The strange thing is that the eye was originally there on the die but was removed with a sharp instrument. This being a helmet-plate die means that it should be pictured mirror wise. Therefore the missing eye is the left one.

Other weapon dancers images are the Migration Period pressed mounts from Gutenstein and Obrigheim, Germany, the silver pendant from a Birka grave and the bronze figurine from a Ekhammar grave, Sweden. Some think that the late tenth-century Rune stone at Aarhus, Denmark picturing a leather face-mask are an image of Odin.

It's just been forever since I've had a match up, and I lost one fight I should not have, I threw in the towel because I had to be somewhere and I could not afford to lose another contact lens lol.

Had a match up right before it, K.o. in a few seconds, felt good to win that lol. Then up against the best I ever fought, and went on for a few rounds, got jacked in my final round in the eye busted my nose, and lost a contact, couldn't see, had to drive home lol, so I threw in the towel until I was in a situation where I didn't need good vision.

Chief character of the Anglo-Saxon Ese, or primary tribe of gods and goddesses with the Wen secondary to them.
Os, as in my name and the Englisc rune, descended from COmmon Germanic Ansuz, is indeed morphologically identical with the word 'goose', and is pluralised in correspondence with 'geese'.

I'm wondering though, is 'Ese' actually attested, or merely reconstructed by analogy? And why isn't it 'Eese'?

Yes!

Modern soy processing practices process soy in a very dangerous way, which causes them to be incredibly harmful for the body! Traditionally, soy is supposed to be fermented for long periods of time in order for it to be even marginally safe to consume. And the Asian cultures that ate soy at all in their traditional forms only used them as condiments, not as meat replacements! Even when soy is traditionally fermented, for as long as 18 months, it still has isoflavones in it. Isoflavones mimic estrogen, and can cause a lot of hormonal problems for men and women. The modern processing practices leave in all of the harmful properties of soy. These include the previously mentioned isoflavones, along with: Allergens, Goitrogens, Lectins, Oligosaccharides, Oxalates, Phytates, Protease Inhibitors, and Saponins.

This is from the Whole Soy Story by Kaayla Daniel:
Allergens: cause allergic reactions. Soy is one of the top 8 allergens.
Goitrogens: damage the thyroid
Lectins: cause red blood cells to clump together and may cause immune system reactions
Oligosaccharides: are the pesky sugars that cause bloating and flatulence
Oxalates: prevent proper absorption of calcium and have been linked to kidney stones and a painful diease know as vulvodynia
Phytates: impair absorption of minerals such as zinc, iron, and calcium.
Isoflavones: are phytoestrogens that act like hormones and affect the reproductive and nervous systems. Some of the best known isoflavones are genistein and daidzein.
Protease Inhibitors: most notably Trypsin Inhibitors interfere with the digestive enzymes protease and trypsin. This can lead to gastric distress, poor digestion, and an overworked pancreas.
Saponins: bind with bile. They may lower cholesterol (this is a bad thing actually!!) and may damage the intestinal lining.

From what I understand, you should be looking away and focusing on distant objects for a couple of minutes every 15 minutes. The damage is mostly in eroding your need to see distance clearly, and I do not believe that change is reversible (aside from normal correction).

You really should seek to have it removed as soon as possible. Do you actually have room for it in your mouth? Or is it impacted and cracked and causing infection?

I can't believe any certified dentist would leave it in there while it's causing infection. Gum disease and infections of the mouth can lead to serious health problems elsewhere in the body!

I have googled and found (http://www.johnnyleeclary.com/questions_on_the_ku_klux_klan.htm) that in 1974 Grand Wizard David Duke opened Klan membership to White Catholics too. So maybe the Ku Klux Klan is no more "for Protestants only".

Nordicism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordicism#Nordicism)

By the early twentieth century the concept of a "masterly" Nordic race had become so familiar that the British psychologist William McDougall, writing in 1920, could say with confidence:

Among all the disputes and uncertainties of the ethnographers about the races of Europe, one fact stands out clearly — namely, that we can distinguish a race of northerly distribution and origin, characterized physically by fair color of hair and skin and eyes, by tall stature and dolichocephaly (i.e. long shape of head), and mentally by great independence of character, individual initiative, and tenacity of will. Many names have been used to denote this type, ... . It is also called the Nordic type.

Sergi argued that Mediterraneans constituted "the greatest race in the world", with a creative edge absent in the Nordic race. According to him, they were the creators of all the major ancient civilizations, from Mesopotamia to Rome.

This argument was later repeated by C. G. Seligman, who wrote that "it must, I think, be recognized that the Mediterranean race has actually more achievement to its credit than any other". Even Carleton Coon insisted that among Greeks "the Nordic element is weak, as it probably has been since the days of Homer...It is my personal reaction to the living Greeks that their continuity with their ancestors of the ancient world is remarkable, rather than the opposite."

Nordicists claimed that Nordics had formed upper tiers of ancient civilizations, even in the Mediterranean civilizations of antiquity, which had declined once this dominant race had been assimilated. Thus they argued that ancient evidence suggested that leading Romans like Nero, Sulla, and Cato were blond or red-haired.

Some Nordicists admitted the Mediterranean race was superior to the Nordic in terms of artistic and intellectual ability. However, the Nordic race was regarded as superior on the basis that, although Mediterranean peoples were culturally sophisticated, it was the Nordics who were alleged to be the innovators and conquerors, having an adventurous spirit that no other race could match.

The Alpine race was usually regarded as inferior to both the Nordic and Mediterranean races, making up the traditional peasant class of Europe while Nordics occupied the aristocracy and led the world in technology, and Mediterraneans were more imaginative.

Opponents of Nordicism rejected these arguments. The anti-Nordicist writer Giuseppe Sergi argued in his influential book The Mediterranean Race (1901) that there was no evidence that the upper tiers of ancient societies were Nordic, insisting that historical and anthropological evidence contradicted such claims...

Most of the time (and especially if we're talking about blonde blue eyes) it's for the same reason that many Finns, and even Irish have these funny squinty eyes. It's from an ancient adaptation to the cold of the Ice Ages, seen in so-called Cro-Magnid types.

(not the best examples, but the first to come to mind.)

North-Eastern Europe is without the benefit of the Gulf Stream warming current from the Atlantic, so these tendencies are more marked there, in Russians and their neighbours. You get flatter wider faces there, because of this, and less 'sticky out' noses.

There IS also some element of mixing with peoples from the East too. I have two friends in Moscow - one with a Kazakh grandfather, one with a Tatar great grandfather - in which you can see these traits. Most Russians I know with squinty eyes cannot tell such a story, though. In them it's a far older trait, from long before the Tatar invasions or Soviet mixing.

Great! Thanks for running around there, Soten. Just what I wanted to hear. I wasn't too sure how much could be seen and done by non-UK residents, so this is good news.

I expect some on here have already found ways around this all, but for those who haven't, and if members are interested in watching/downloading BBC programmes for future reference and posterity, then firstly download this software. It's safe. :)

Wondershare Media Converter (http://www.wondershare.com/pro/media-converter.html)

You will need to install the BBC IPlayer for this also, but after that it isn't needed. When you want to download a BBC programme, simply download with Windows Media Player and save to your PC.

After this, open up the file using the media converter software and convert the file in order to use with multiple viewing software and keep permanently.

You will need a password for the media converter software, but I can provide that if you PM me.

Together we can screw the BBC. :thumb001:

A selective pressure with results even in non-simian mammals? Running water is cooler than stagnant pools, and is less likely to make you ill.

How's that attempt? ;)

Hmmm, that seems plausible at least.

But when I've worked indoors sitting down in an air-conditioned office I still preferred cold water. Granted, I wasn't cold, just not particularly hot and sweaty. Perhaps in that case the first option kicks in?

It's absolutely wrong saying that all sardinians have black hair and light eyes are almost unexistent

a recent survay realised by the anthropologists Cosseddu, Floris and Vona in 1983, entitled "The pigmentation of eyes and hair of Sardinians" shows that 29,7% of sardinians have got light eyes (hazel, green, grey annd blue), excluding hazel light eyes = 25% of population. brown eyes prevail.

the hair are mainly brown, not black. (mainly dark brown 35%, and light and medium brown 22,6%).
only blondes are rares (2,7%), but 5% in the north of the island (8% in the subregion of Gallura) and readheads only 0,5%

if you have visited the island in summer should know that population doubled due to the presence of turists, so half people that you have seen probably weren't sardinians at all ;)

That Sardinians are darker than continental Italians, including Southern Italians, is a given fact. Hazel eyes are very common also in Italy (even more common), but we call them usually brown, becouse, except when exposed to the light and appear green, normally they look brown. I dunno in which percentage they exist in Italy, but many people have it.
My father has this colour:

extremely common, and my boyfriend this

http://www.utahsnaturalkids.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/ethan20hazel20eyes.jpg

But, I repeat, we count them as "brown", indeed both my father and my bf have "brown eyes" in their identity card.
There is also an other reason of this fact: Italian dictionary doesn't have a word for translate "hazel". We have castano and nocciola that mean brown too, and verde, that means green. That's also why in the official book they are registred as "brown".
More stupid than this...

Yeah, it's pretty narrow to list colour as just "blue, green, brown", it's so much more complex than that..it kind of defeats the purpose of actually an "official" eye colour.

In Portugal we use the word "avelã" (literally hazelnut) for light brown/hazel like the ones you just posted (and mine), altho they are still considered a lighter branch of brown. Predominantly green hazel eyes are just labelled "verde".

The romance languages indeed are not the top for eye colours.
On the documents in Italy you find only these eye colours:
1)azzurro (blue) o grigio (grey)
2)verde (green)
3)castano, that includes colours from almost black to almost green:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_fSY3KGxcG0E/TQ2be2bgjlI/AAAAAAAAFBc/Jep823im_zw/s1600/ethan20hazel20eyes.jpg

(These two colours are approximately the mine and the one of my bf. We both are registred as having brown eyes - "castano").

Yes, physical traits depend on the result of the crossing over if I am not wrong. It permits to recombine the genetical material of the two parents creating diversity. During this process it can happen also some genetical mutation.

Is the proper phrasing, "an hotel" or "a hotel?" Please, do tell.

Both are allowable, but the former is generally regarded as obsolescent. For the most part, "a" should be used before "h" if the "h" is pronounced, e.g., "a hog," "a hat"; "an" should be used if the "h" is silent, e.g., "an herb," "an heir." You can probably get by using "an" before "h" words where stress does not fall on the first syllable, e.g., "an his`torical event" (but not "an `history"), "an hys`terical woman," "an ho`tel." But you would probably sound hopeless archaic if you said, "an `humble man," although this was once acceptable.

I have back problems now and then, and I've found that laying down on the floor on my back helps. So does being suspended upside down by one's feet, if that's manageable. Once you can, try taking a long but leisurely walk or swim.

Aye, I've been on the floor a lot. I went to see my Dad a few days ago, and he sometimes has similar problems, and he lies down and puts his knees pointing upward bent, and then lets them fall to the left or right while his shoulders are still flat on the floor, if you see what I mean. I do actually WANT to hang upside down, but can't think of anywhere round here where I could.

Sure, I've been to a chiropractor in the past. I always feel 10 centimeters taller after a session. :p

Also, if the problem is in the muscles rather than in the spine, acupuncture works wonders, too. I actually used to see a guy who had been trained in England in both disciplines, but then he went and betrayed me by moving back there for good.

However, people should make sure, especially when chiropractors are concerned, that the people twisting their joints back and forth know what they're doing -- there have been cases here in Finland of people being severely injured by charlatans.

You should contact your own country's association of chiropractors, in order to be referred to a reputable professional.

The latter. It's just SO naff. :D

'Yank' has a good sound to it. The consonant cluster at the end allows the speaker to put real spite and derision into the word, which in itself is not too far from 'yuck', 'skank', 'wank' and suchlike. ;)

'Limey', well... Sounds like a petname or summat. When we get called it, it hardly prompts feelings of offence, more usually being greeted with puzzlement or 'er, alright...' sort of reactions. When we actually think about the origins of the term, we are taken to a bunch of sailors who ate citrus fruits to stop their teeth falling out on long voyages.... :suomut: Quite how that is supposed to rile us is beyond me.

'Yank' has the added benefit of having a far narrower meaning within the US, and thereby allows for the extra insulting power of using it on Southerners and West Coasters. :D

Limey sounds like something a child came up with, or a way to reduce grown men to child like status, kidding. :D I do not believe it is intended as derogatory, it's just time we came up with something a bit more modern. :)

As a West Coaster, I do not find offense with being called a Yank, I have been called worse things over the years. Silica gel is non-toxic, non-flammable, and non-reactive and stable with ordinary usage. What kind of stupid question is that? That question belongs in the weird question thread.:p:D

It's been done before. It is called Intero-Rectogestion. If it works in South Park it can work in real life.

I'm sure in the future more frivolous forms of bespoke surgery, such as removing the digestive tract and putting it back in upside down, will become available. :thumb001:

Or, the universe may reach its maximum size, and instead of expanding, it will begin to contract, at which point the direction of time will be reversed. This is a situation described by Philip K. Dick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_K._Dick) in his novel Counter-Clock World:

The Hobart Phase

The Hobart Phase is the new order of life where people rise from the dead and are rejuvenated. Time reversal apparently began in 1986.

Other than aging, Hobart Phase resurrection has changed nutritional and excretion processes and associated social taboos. People do not eat, but instead consume "Sogum" (hinted to be reverse Defecation) and later "plop" out food, which is done in private, due to its 'shameful' nature.

As for smoking, cigarettes are no longer smoked, but the smoke instead blown back into them, making them grow back to normal size (this also clears and freshens the air).

"Goodbye" and "hello" have reversed their order within standard greetings. It is stated that Mars colonists do not have the Hobart Phase on their world, and it is limited to Earth, and presumably its lunar colonies as well.

I for one cannot wait. :yippee

'Yank' has the added benefit of having a far narrower meaning within the US, and thereby allows for the extra insulting power of using it on Southerners and West Coasters. :D

:shakefist

I detest being called Yank, have to literally bite my tongue when I get called Yank by someone not from the States.

Are true Slavs Dinarids or Baltids?

As I understand it, both are the product of processes that began to affect Slavonic speakers after their dispersal from their urheimat (perhaps already advanced in populations that formed substrata to pre-Slavonic groups).

That is the prehistoric point of view. Another less diachronic approach would say that both phenotypes along with several others are borne by people of impeccable ethnolinguistic Slavonic credentials, from Ljubljana to Alyaska.

Why do Mexicans always wear their clothes into the ocean? I see them always going into the water with their clothes on, they roll their pants up and go swimming, often with their shirts on. Is it that they can't afford bathing suites or are a lot of them just fat and embarrassed to bare any skin?

In 19 years of living in Southern California, I never noticed this as something peculiar to Mexicans. Most of them wear bathing suits like anyone else.

Where in Cali are you from? I live half a mile from the beach and am there all the time so I notice small things here and there. I rarely see white folks boogie boarding with a wife-beater on.

I lived in Orange County, not as close to the beach as you though. I never noticed the phenomenon you're describing, although Mexicans are much more likely to wear wife-beaters in general. :coffee:

It's something of a trend for fat Mexicans who usually leave clothes on when they go in the pool or the ocean or anywhere that has a body of water. Of course, good-looking thin Mexicans don't do this. ;)

North Slavs are pred. Baltid whereas Southwest Slavs are pred. Dinarid (former Yugoslavia) and Southeast Slavs are pred. Pontid (Bulgaria). Question answered. :thumb001:

No,not advised. The correct way is to cut out the puncture, buy a joint from your hardware shop, then connect the two loose ends into the joint.

There was a bus driver who had a dog and usually when he transported a football team he took with him. While driving he saw a signal there that he must turn 120 deegres but the driver turned 90 deegres.

What is the name of the dog?

[QUOTE=Rainraven;46663]How do you cook rice without it getting gluggy or burning to the bottom of the pot?

Add a little olive oil, at the beginning.

Is it right to think Clowns are not funny at all?

Or should a decision like that, come from a mandate from the massess, not some farcical aquatic ceremony held in a public toilet by a moisent bint?

They do that here too. I just assume they don't bother with it, because they probably could never afford to at home and that's what they are use to. This past summer there would be a family of them ever so often and even the little children swam in clothes ..but what's it really matter anyway :D

@Rainraven, if it's real rice not already pouched rice where you just add oil ..you want 2 cups of water for every cup of rice ..always cook on a medium low then low. Also, Never Stir ...did you know you can cook regular white rice this way then add a can of Rotel Mild Diced Tomato & Green Chilies for your own Spanish rice :D If you are cooking prepared rice that comes in a pouch ( Spanish Dirty etc ) you just bring to a boil add oil cover and simmer..:thumbs up
