When you see old pictures of Italian Americans or pure-blooded ones here, the first guy's phenotype does occur.

Could either of those men pass in Greece?

The second yes, i know guys that look like him but the first one, no !

The type does occur. Genetically they are very close to Greeks and to Sephardi Jews.

If it's common in Sicily then it's realy not "east"...and there is similarity between some Spanish meds and those Sicilians also, so what I'm saying is that the term is a little misleading IMO.

Genetically they are more eastern than their geographic location, due to the fact that they were populated mostly from the east (Greeks, Levantines, Neolithic farmers) and the north (Germanics, Italics).
