Thanks to my comrade over at The Lambeth Walk (http://thelambethwalk.blogspot.com/) for this follow-up story:

I remember the front page of my local paper on New Year's Day, or real close to it, they had the 15 most wanted people of our county, and about 12 or 13 of them were Hispanics, with very violent crimes, and maybe 2 or 3 token white people with drug offenses. And, then a couple of days later, some Hispanic sympathizer wrote in to complain about the racism displayed, showing so many Hispanic criminals on the front page.
