... Or maybe not!

But greetings anyways. I am a 16 years old boy from Danmark. I've always been interested in ancient history, the races, ancient languages, and especially my heritage.

I've been trying to find my "tribe" for a long time, and very recently, I came to the conclusion that I most likely descend from the Franks.

I've been looking for a forum like this for a long time, and I hope that someone here can teach me about Frankish culture, language, and art, as I strongly believe that one should embrace one's heritage.

So, once again, greetings!

Welcome oh flatulent one.:D

You have come to the right place as our very own Supermod Aemma, and some bloke called Psycho...something, are very proficient with all things Frankish.

I hear even Oswiu likes to take a dip into that area too.

Make yourself at home.

Greetings Dagaric! :) Welcome to Apricity. I am pretty sure you would learn a lot about your heritage by being active on this forum. Hope you enjoy it!

Did you find us through a search engine?

I found a link to something Frank-related through a search engine. Don't remember what though. I go through links very quickly, and have a very bad short-term memory. Any of you know if anyone here speak old low Franconian or something similar?

Hjertelig velkommen til The Apricity ! gott att se en ny skandinav.
You mention Franconians- as in the Franconians from Germany but where do your ancestors come from then ? Frankfurt seems to have been founded by a Frankish tribe but is now located in Hesse.

My ancestors are from Frankfurt as far back as anyone in my family knows.

Interesting.. the Frankish input in the Netherlands is also considerable. Basically the whole south used to be part of the Frankish Realm and Dutch is in essence a Lower Franconian language.

Yeah, but I want to learn the language that my ancestors spoke, if at all possible. Wait, if you are Dutch, then why did you greet me in some undefinable Scandinavian language?

I gave it a try in Norwegian since I noticed that the Scandinavian languages are so much alike ( I learned a bit of Norwegian).

In Dutch it would be: Hartelijk welkom op The Apricity Goed om nog (eens) een nieuwe Scandinaaf te zien.
The thing is that Scandinavians are rare on any forum- apart from this one or so it seems.:D

Don't know why we are so few on the internet, but it is my impression too. By the way, I understand most of the Dutch I have read to date, but spoken Dutch makes me cry in confusion most of the time.

The same with me and Scandinavian languages. I can somewhat understand written Norwegian, Danish or Swedish but the spoken version is also impossible for me.
German is easier for me though.

Welcome aboard brother! I've been able to trace a good bit of my ancestry to the Franks as well and maintain an avid interest in all things Frankish, particularly their religion (http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4178). Good to have you here.

Wait, how did you know? I remember now, that was exactly what is was looking for when I found this lovely forum. I was trying to find some ideas for Frankish tattoos, since I want to get some done the summer after I've turned 18, to show that I am a grown man :D

^We were having a laugh just yesterday about the keywords people used to reach Apricity (http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=4570) :p... ;)

Bedste hilsener
Lars

Thanks to you all for this wonderful welcome! I haven't written a single post outside this thread, but that is not because I don't want to, I have just been quite busy lately.
