I am going to clingfilm them after I have painted them so as to hermetically seal the room, so that my electric heating does not go to immediate waste. :mad:

I myself haven't got round to doing so, yet, but what you need to do is pop down to B&Q and get yourself what is very similar to cling film (the actual name escapes me at the moment), but it is applied to your windows by carefully taping the edges and then taking off the excess by way of a hair-dryer.
I would then suggest applying a second layer and then applying some kind of silicone based filler to the extreme edges to prevent errant blasts of chilly wind.
