Been looking for some new tunes and I know we've got some musicians on board, would be keen to hearing what y'all play out Black Metal wise if any of y'all do.

I am in a duo called Lost Hope (I on guitars with my cousin on drums a sort of Inquisition situation but with a more depressive orientation. The name Lost Hope is temporary, I was against it being used in the first place but it's a filler for the time being).

Rather than be a complete whore and flood the thread, for those interested in hearing some of our stuff ye can click on the youtube link in my signature (it's all very rough still).

Whore yer shit here. :thumb001:

Question for Laudanum here: How'd ye go about doing the vocals? I have trouble with the screams necessary for DSBM or BM in general, used to do vocals for the project I'm workin' on but axed all the vocal tracks to be put with the songs done so far b/c the quality was crap and I kept hurting my throat during the process. :p

Had thought of doing something along the lines of what Inquisition does for vocals because it seems less stressful on the throat.

Doing black metal vocals is quite hard.:D Usually when you start doing metal vocals in general, people advise you to actually use your belly for the growls etc. But with black metal it's the exact opposite. You have to use your throat if you want to do good black metal vocals and it'll most likely hurt.:P

I have done quite a lot of different vocal styles within black metal, from DSBM vocals to Inquisition like vocals. It's really hard to explain how to do it, though. It all comes down to screaming your lungs out, anyways.;) For Inquisition-like vocals you'll just have to use your throat and it'll probably hurt quite a bit too.

I was on a project, but sadly it died before rolling the songs:(

I've did a few tracks a while ago with Inquisition sort of vocals let out at a softer volume as to avoid the throat pain then amped it up in my recording software, wasn't horrid but did not capture the emotion like I wanted. I have no clue how Dagon does it the way he does, it captures an emotion that is out of this world.

I do like the early Abbath sort of scream as well, like what was done for Unholy Forces of Evil. Awawowowow!

Another issue I have is with neighbors, I live in an apartment complex right now so I have to be careful with the noises that I make. :P Had an instance where a neighbor thought there was an altercation in my apartment but all I was doing was recording vocal tracks.

I heard that honey and such helps alleviate the stress but I'm all out. Used it all for breakfast time throughout the past month so I can't confirm whether it's myth or truth. :(

Got a Youtube page specifically for the duo (has some of our even more rough early material, I am the one who goes by Anthelmintic):

New tune, thinking of redoing it because the whammy bar action screwed with the tuning a bit:
