science tells us that men have an average higher sex drive when it comes to frequency of sex desire and willingness to have a sexual intercourse. it's also an everyday experience for everyone. you can see it even on this very same boards: an average looking girl posts her pics and she gets compliments all around and PMs from male members; an average looking guy does the same and he won't get anything.
but whenever I had a discussion about this issue both IRL and on internet boards I had people contradicting me and claiming that it's the other way round. why is that some people are denying the obvious? is it because they are delusional and dream of a reality where women chase them or is it because they are conservative oriented and don't like how things work? or what else?

Men have initially higher sex drive while women generally have more persistent higher sex drive when in a relationship. It's easier for a woman to get into a relationship than a guy (even a very ugly woman will have an easier time finding relationships than an average looking guy). So men get more desperate and that's why you notice them pm'ing and complimenting on the average girls pictures that way and not vice-versa.

You agree with him then. So do I. Men have higher sex drives, at least initially.

I think in general that's true. But in my case, its not :(

Wanting sex and giving compliments are two completely different things. I have no need to look for sex (:thumbs up) but at the same time will respectfully compliment a woman on her appearance (dress, makeup, comportment, natural beauty, so on) if I think it will not bother her.
It's tough anymore just to say you look nice and from a guy's point of view, we do put more emphasis on the eye candy part. We can't help it, our brains are wired that way. Chicks look at things in another light and probably aren't overall as aggressive in drumming up interest in a possible relationship. Some things are the way they are and that's it, there is no need for analyzing it to death.

No, I didn't mean that.
I mean that: in general, yes, men have a higher sex drive than women.
In my case, It's not that. My sex drive is very high, and I am getting 'acussed' of that.

In order to preserve a species of any kind (not just human), the key lies in the best genetics.

Therefore the sex drives, or at least sex practices differ between males and females.

The female bears the young, therefore it is important that she choose the best mate so that her young will be superior. The number of eggs produces are limited in a lifetime and she is only fertile for a certain amount of years. Therefore the choice needs to be good from the beginning. Not saying that she has a lesser sex drive, but that she is more selective. She needs to be selective if it is going to mean the survival of the species.

The male needs to spread his genetics as far and wide as is possible. Because females are selective he cannot waste too much time on any one individual. Time is of the essence and he needs to get his genetics out there as soon as possible. Which is why men tend to be less selective. This would also explain why males want to do it more often and with more females.

I wouldn't say that the female has any less desire than a male, just that she is more selective with whom she chooses.

I found that woman and men are evenly matched.

I donīt really think thereīs so much of a difference. Yes, men do have a higher sex drive than women, but itīs not as big as some people make it seem... its exaggerated. Historically, women have always been discouraged from showing interest and enthusiasm for sex. Men who "play the field" are praised while women who do the same are looked down on, so women tend suppress their sexuality in order to better fit into societyīs norms and expectations.

I've observed something, or at least it's my perception: In southern Europe and Latin America for example, men's sex drive is higher than women's while in northern places of Europe or in N.America, the women's sex drive is way higher than men's.

I think it depends on the individual, personally. Some women just want to have sex less often, others more I suppose. Honestly i don't think it has much to do with being male or female.

Women have a higher sex drive then men, but don't give it too easily, you must nest with them first otherwise you're not getting any.

This is why my bf thinks Estonian and probably other women in northern countries go for southern guys and turks.

The guys dont seem to have any interest to have sex while there are so many girls in bars trying to get it on.

Use your common sense. Since a woman is physically able to have more sex, it's natural that she has a higher sex drive.

I think the female sex drive is like a slow-burning coal fire, whereas the male sex drive is like a short, but powerful, burst.

Men just want to get in there (how appropriate a phrase ) and plant the seed.
Women get knocked up and have to carry a baby though, so naturally they'll be a bit less excited about sex.
Consequently women (apart from Mary of course :D ) have probably evolved to be a bit less sex obsessed than men to save themselves a lot of trouble.

If men weren't restrained by society they'd probably be polygamous IMO. Men's breeding strategy is just to create as many copies of themselves as possible. Women control evolution by picking partners with desirable traits, men do that too but aren't nearly as fussy.

There, mystery solved. :p

It's not that way though. A guy is very sexual at first then when in a deep relationship the woman become very sexual, more sexual than the guy often.

Breeding strategy? Once two people are a couple the woman starts putting out as a subconscious reproduction strategy and the bloke has settled for a mate so subconsciously doesn't feel the same sense of urgency?

Not sure. I read an article that after marriage women prefer sex more for emotional validation while men prefer to be hugged more for the same validation. Guess the woman wants to be considered attractive to her husband while the husband wants to know he has someone he can depend on for emotional support.

Much of it comes down to oxytocin, which is released in women much, much more than in men.

Women in Southern Countries are restrained.
Northern Women are getting like men more and more.
Its the same in third world countries.
Initially the women were not having much interest in sex. But as development increased, women began to have more and more interest in sex.
In the case of the guys, maybe the more developed the nation is, the more porn they watch and thus lose the libido. Plus they have estrogen in their food which lowers male sex drive and increases female one.

Northern Euros don't lack testosterone.

There, mystery solved. :pI think is quite the oppossite. I think after women get married and pragment they get more sexually obsessed while men loses interest. As soon as we get a woman pragnent, our brain starts thinking differently even if the man is unaware of this process taking place
this happenes to us so we can take care the ofspring..Thats why as soon as a man holds a child, no matter how hot the women is front of him, he is not gone be sexually driven, because evoluation works this way, to look forward and care for the new born next to you.

While women on the other become more sexually obssesed after they lock up a guy their mission ecomplished, while they become less worry and plaifull, we become more morally reposinsible and worried.
Of course some some people have not evoleved to that level, and just keep poping up kids with 30 diferent women without a worrie in the world. That should not be the case for a morally superior man.
