Many western girls nowadays tend to wear buckets of makeup; so do you find it appealing, is it somewhat of turnoff, or is it irrelevant to you?

I think makeup is great for having fun, self-expression, and slightly enhancing naturally-occuring qualities. Makeup becomes negative when women feel like they are unattractive without it.

No sane guy would want to keep a woman like that around though. They'll show them off for a month or two then move on. Women who dress that way are usually air headed and overly demanding all the time anyways. I've known a few.

I'm a fan of a little makeup but not that horrible coated on barbie doll look.

Less is more, and a small and well blended application of very pigment-dense make up in the right colour is what I prefer.

I cannot imagine what life is like for these creatures who wear three pairs of false eyelashes. Unless it looks invisible, or strives to, why bother?

Guys in general like women as unnatural as possible. They just dont realize it. Ive been asked several times if I ever wear make up.. when I am wearing make up. So a lot of guys dont even actually know what natural is like.

Its quite logical. If a girl is wearing a lot of makeup she is trying to attract more attention thus she is more likely looking for a mate. So chances to end a night in her bed are higher. Such girls are good for one night stand.

Yes, and some guys are porn-obsessed, and that tacky porn look, with a French manicure, peroxide hair and a dihydroxyacetone tan is what really excites them.

Basically being a "real woman" is just an illusion.

Most guys don't know what natural looks like.
They can't distinguish between fake nails - natural nails, fake dyed hair with extensions and natural hair. They think no makeup means no green blue or heavy colored eyeshadow.

Though we can see plenty of examples of horribly failed makeup, when done with skill and style, it obviously enhances appearance and attractiveness. Hard-liner "naturalists" tend to be liars who just want to make mediocre little mice feel good and fall for their chivalric charms.

That said, women shouldn't use makeup like men use steroids; a magical substance that quickly solves all their problems. Flaws of nature are better corrected than concealed.

By the way, earrings, lipsticks, hairstyles and perfumes are also unnatural, and so is using soaps, cutting your nails and wearing clothes that are products of advanced chemistry. So what? Civilization is unnatural. You just need to find the exact amount and types of "unnatural", human intervention that's decorative while still being decent.

but I really dislike heavy caked on face powder/foundation and bright lipstck. I think blush should be very subtle and minimal.

This is a minimal daytime look for me. I dont wear foundation, blush or even lipgloss during the day, but I feel naked without eyeliner.

You sound very negative. I don't think this is the case in general. I can't speak for other guys, but I can't say "fakeness" has attracted me after I turned 16.

Do I have an image of an "optimal woman" in my mind? Probably, but I don't pretend that all women are like what I'd like. I also don't reject aspects that I hadn't thought of or considered before I encountered them. It's like a learning process. You can't know exactly what you like unless you've met people with all kinds of characteristics.

Both men and women have this image in their minds of what the opposite sex "should be", and as we've seen from polls about men's height or male physical strength, women often have a very specific image of what a man should be (i. e. taller and stronger than her). Men should dress a certain way and have certain values. It goes both ways. Women pretend to be more open minded than men, but in reality we both have some close minded ideas about each other.

Anyway, I can honestly say that bleached blond airhead types don't do anything for me. Some may have a pretty face or nice body but whenever they talk they ruin it for me. I'm not a dime a dozen, but I refuse to believe I'm the only guy who feels this way. If all men want fakes, then what did men do before make-up, wigs, silicone implants, botox and peroxide? What did we do before the bleached bimbo fad?

Not so long ago, the ideal woman was curvy and classy. They wore cocktail dresses instead of hotpants. The idols were Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe instead of Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton. And yes, I realise that Hayworth and Monroe were fake in their own way. They were actresses, paid to "lie" on the silver screen.

My point is that there are all kinds of people in this world. Some women are classy and smart, some aren't. Some men like women who are classy and smart, some don't.

Agreed with both. Italian men say to prefer natural simply girls, but in reality they look at Barbie-like egocentric dolls with high heels and attitude.
Not only, guys litterally dispute for porn-star looking women. If they are able to pick up one it is like they have conquered the first of the class and they like to show them around for the envy of their male friends.
This phrase sounds a bit like women who say to don't like men with muscles and prefer men with belly. :tongue
Just to save some men: it is necessary that a girl doesn't make them run away when she opens her mouth.

Liverpool ladies may be known for their love of fake tan – but few people know about the Geordie obsession with moisturiser or the Welsh passion for blusher.

Now research has revealed that women spend their money on different make-up products depending on where in the country they live.

For example, Edinburgh women buy 15 per cent more foundation than those from anywhere else. But in Cardiff they have a penchant for blusher, buying 51 per cent more than the national average.

Lip gloss is sought-after in Solihull in the West Midlands, with 20 per cent more sales there, and Manchester is the city of pampered talons, with demand for nail varnish 20 per cent above average.

In the nearby footballer’s wife territory of Cheadle, mascara sales are 7 per cent higher than average.

In Liverpool, sales of bronzing and self-tan products are 35 per cent up on the average, according to the sales figures from John Lewis.

Women spend over £100k on make up in a lifetime... and would rather dump their boyfriend than go barefaced
New make-up line for women over 60 promises secret of ageing gracefully… but is it really any different from regular cosmetics?
The true cost of beauty: Women carry £256 worth of make-up in handbag
Meanwhile in upmarket Chelsea, expensive facial serums are 21 per cent more popular than elsewhere. Women in London, Glasgow and Leeds are most likely to carry around with them a full make-up bag, including perfume and nail polish, separate research by Debenhams shows.

Carie Barkhuizen, a spokesman for the store, said: ‘Customer research shows that women have in excess of £250 worth of cosmetics in their make-up bags, but the contents vary regionally.’

A study by Superdrug found women in Thurrock, Essex, wore the most false eyelashes, with Manchester coming second.

A spokesman said: ‘It’s fascinating looking at the differences between best-sellers across the country. There are definite regional beauty trends.’

Trends: Women from Liverpool, like Desperate Scousewives star Amanda Harrington, left, tend to buy fake tan, while girls from West London, like Made in Chelsea's Gemma Gregory like splashing out on expensive facials
Alice Hart-Davis, creator of goodthingsbeauty.com, said: ‘If you’d asked me this last week, I would have been baffled by the extraordinary amount of self-tan and bronzing products that are being sold in Liverpool.

‘But having seen the pictures of racegoers at Aintree, you can see where it went – a heavily-bronzed look was de rigueur for Ladies’ Day.’

According to a survey of 2,000 women published today, more than 70 per cent feel happier after spending money on themselves – and 43 per cent get an even bigger buzz from picking up a bargain.

The biggest retail therapy fans are in Northern Ireland, where 92 per cent said they felt better after a shopping spree, according to the research commissioned by LoveFashionSales.com.

Women from Yorkshire and Humberside were the least happy to part with their cash, with only 44 per cent cheered up by spending money on themselves.

Top of the retail therapy shopping list was clothes, with handbags and shoes coming in second and third.

Tricia Woolfrey, life coach and author, said: ‘Treating yourself every now and then can be a great endorphin-boost – it’s both self-affirming and exciting.’

White girls without make up are easy recognizable as whites usually have a non uniform skin (including southern Europeans). When you see a uniform skin without dots or redder zones they are wearing at least foundation. This is why a lot of women like to tan here: so their skin becomes more uniform and they can avoid to wear make up.

She's wearing at least primer, foundation, phard, fake lashes, lipgloss and a very soft eye shadow, and also a cryon or a shadow for eyebrow, indeed she's blonde and should not have brown eyebrow nor black lashes.

Yet primer, foundation, phard, light/copper reflexed eye shadow, brown eye pencil and brown rimmel.

I don't wear make-up often and least of all flashy make-up. I'm not the type. Some subtle camouflage around my eyes and that's it. :) With freckles you don't have many options: You can decide against any make-up or you can apply tons of make-up to cover all freckles and make it look as if you had smooth and uniform skin. But that's freaky and costs time.

Hahaha.. Im not so sure Hess. I know guys who dont like girls who look like cheap plastic whores.
Yes, everyone has different tastes, I too don't like that kind of woman, she's not at all my ideal of beauty but all this doesn't me I'd decline an invite for a laid from her :coffee:

Men always think that what they prefer is what all other men also prefer.
That's very true.

Not only girls but also males nowdays are getting into the habit.....which is slightly pukemaking.....the male cosmetic market is in rapid expansion.....probably in proportion to how the western world is in rapid decline.

There have been plenty of historical precedents for male macquillage. Think of the 18th Century. Was that a time of decline?

Great art and great decadence are often concurrent, but I do not see anything intrinsically wrong with a little bit of slap. (lol)

I (sometimes) like to define my brows to make them look stronger, fake tan my skin to give it a healthy glow, conceal any patches of offending redness and contour my face to masculinise it, and, of course, I pluck the ugly stray hairs that come with age...

This is simply male grooming.

I employ tiny amounts of Kryolan stage greasepaint, and my makeup is not visible, nor is it dangerously subversive, I just look a little more presentable with it than I do without.

Yes, homo, but it looks nice, so what of it?

I like the natural look, and that just so happens to be a trompe l'oeil.

Many western girls nowadays tend to wear buckets of makeup; so do you find it appealing, is it somewhat of turnoff, or is it irrelevant to you?

http://celebritypictureworld.com/pictures/amy-childs.jpg
http://ucesy-sk.happyhair.sk/celebrity_img/jordan4o509.jpg

Pornstar make up is ugly no matter which way you swing it.

When I go to work, I wear make up:

Dark circle concealer (I look really fucking tired at all times), foundation, setting (pressed) powder, blush, neutral eyeshadow also used as liner, browpencil, mascara (in conjunction with lash curler).

It sounds like a lot, but it's that or look tired and blotchy. Most people don't think I wear make up in any case, because it's very subtle.

Of course when I go out I make my make up more fun and probably way too excessive, but not in a pornstar way but a crazy artsy way haha. I don't wear makeup when I go out to please men, I wear it for myself, like my choice of clothes.

Guys in general like women as unnatural as possible. They just dont realize it. Ive been asked several times if I ever wear make up.. when I am wearing make up. So a lot of guys dont even actually know what natural is like.

True that :coffee:

I've been asked about my skincare regimen (which is also vigourous) by many of the office ladies, and they don't realise about my makeup regimen. :D

You have to look after what you've got, otherwise when you're old, you will really look old and will actually need makeup. :thumb001:

edit: I suppose I should say makeup is a bit of a hobby for me because it reminds me of painting, just painting on the body and face instead :)

Normally, I wear black eye-liner and dark lipstick if I'm heading out and about. Otherwise, just natural looking make-up.

How one girl use make up is totally up to her taste and even heavy makeup can be nice looking. The problem is that most of the girls that choose heavy make up doesnt know the tricks and end up ready for the circus.
Personaly i almost never use make up and even when i do, i only use maskara and some rouge and thats all there is to it. I dont even own a lipstick, i ve never bought one.

Man dump the makeup, it is a waste of time with women for sure, because looks is only a slight part of the picture with them.

If looks were that important to them they would not be screwing sub Saharan Africans because they perceived them as the new "Alpha Males".

Not to mention that it makes you look like a "MetroSexual", who is a pussy beggar, trying anything he can to get Pussy, even if he has to become one.

NO WAY IN HELL would I ever put on any makeup, for any reason.

On the issue of women and make up, or other body decoration issues. Fact is it is a very feminine issue not just because they are trying to make themselves look attractive for men, but because it is also a competition and status issue for them. Which by the way has nothing what so ever to do with the men they are supposed to be "Attracting".

Yes, but I'm NOT begging for pussy; I'm homo and have a partner for life, and I think (rightly or wrongly) that I am on-trend and look the better for it.

It is a little competitive, and not many men do it, perhaps because of social conventions (of which I am circumspect) but men have, historically, applied make-up, and it was not a harbinger of doom and destruction.

On topic, I do not mind if girls wear a lot of slap because sometimes it is a joy to behold. Everyone must be as creative as possible and whether at work or not, standards must be maintained.

Actually I like glamorous make-up on women, especially daring and bright shades which resemble the colourings of exotic birds.

Make-up trends such as the French manicure and styles of lipstick have been influenced by pornography, and that is disturbing, but some women are simply not dressed without, say, eye make-up, in particular.

All women are beautiful, because they are women, but it is everyone's duty to look his or her best.

The problem is that my make-up still looks like make-up, no matter how subtle it is.

I can fake tan, but as soon as the paint goes on it is clearly obvious.

Seems none of these ladies have been too great at the concept of moderation.

Now, I grew up in LA. My mother still lives there, as do several other family members. My mother has NEVER EVER EVER spent an entire day without wearing makeup. She does her makeup and hair every single day....even if it's just to stay home. This process takes her about 3 hours every single day...and she used to make me late for things because of this. In fact, I was late for my high school graduation because of her.

I am her opposite. Unless hubs and I are going on a date, I don't wear makeup at all. He loves me and tells me I am beautiful enough without it:)

I love their eyeshadow shades. I got Socialite (my favorite, a shimmery green) Moss, Black Pearl, Vanilla Sugar and Rapture, and I prefer the blush shade Glee over Warmth. I think makeup is great for having fun, self-expression, and slightly enhancing naturally-occuring qualities. Makeup becomes negative when women feel like they are unattractive without it.
Ditto - I had been experimenting a lot with unusual and theatrical make-up when I was younger, and it was fun to see how it transforms you into something else :D

I think glamorous makeup (when done correctly) can be very beautiful. I do not think it should be an everyday type thing though.

I really do not wear makeup often, but usually when I do wear makeup it is very simple. Most of the time its a quick coat of mascara and a little lip gloss/chapstick and then I am good to go. Both accentuate my features and bring out my complexion and do not overcompensate any of my natural features in my face.
