Hello, I am researching my family, have a great-great-grandfather with an interesting middle name ... Momadevia.
I have done a Google search and turned up not one mention, except for him. I discovered in old census records that he was also at least on occasion known as "McDuffy."
I am quite sure that this family is Scots-Irish.
So my question is whether Momadevia might be some corruption of an old Gaelic spelling of McDuffy, or does anyone recognize it from any other context?
