Friday's incident in which Bulgarian ambassador to Macedonia Ivan Petkov was not allowed to bring flowers to the tomb of revolutionary Gotse Delchev is deeply counterproductive for Macedonia, stated Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov Saturday.

Friday Petkov and a Bulgarian delegation were not admitted to Delchev's grave and were allegedly assaulted by a group of nationalist Macedonian "hooligans," with no one being hurt.

Bulgaria's President Rosen Plevneliev and Foreign Affairs Minister Nikolay Mladenov have reacted sharply, denouncing the incident as disgraceful and harming for bilateral relations.

Pleveneliev even hinted that Bulgaria might consider blocking Macedonia's bid for EU membership, should Macedonian authorities fail to take up measures to improve sentiments regarding Bulgaria.

"Bulgaria will work for the EU accession of Macedonia but only if Macedonia acts in accordance with this support," said the Bulgarian President.

"Macedonia probably does not realize how important it is to join the EU and that it needs the support of its EU-member neighbors," said PM Borisov Saturday.

However, he stated that although Bulgaria will is taking serious note of the incident, it has no plans to impede Macedonia's integration to the EU.

"We are neighbors and brotherly peoples. Macedonia must join the EU. If we obstruct that, that would be a wrong towards history," said Borisov.

"What happened is not helpful for them, neither does them honor. But we will not retaliate impulsively," added he.

PM Borisov also revealed that Macedonian ambassador to Sofia Blagoj Handziski has been summoned to Bulgaria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be presented with the Bulgarian government's official position of protest against the incident.

We do know that the Bulgarians do not like seeing you in the E.U. Dusan. They certainly prefer to absorb you as lost Bulgarian brothers. Thanks for clarifying this for us.

Nevertheless, the real reason that you shall not be allowed into the E.U. AND NATO has to do with your imminent cantonisation on the basis of ethnic majorities, which shall most probably not be peaceful. You cannot even agree upon a census right now anyway, and you are killing each other both in this forum as well as in the real world. I believe that you are fully aware of this, because you are probably no other than "Prolet", the world infamous voice of VMRO-DPMNE in every conceivable Balkan forum.

Anyway, why should either the E.U. and/or NATO incorporate a member which shall inevitably split and perhaps even fall apart? Do you think that the presence of a divided Cyprus in the E.U. is not enough of a headache for the European bureaucrats? As a matter of fact Cyprus has exploded long ago, and now it is quiet. Your case is by far more troublesome. It has yet to explode. Why would either the E.U. or NATO hold you in their hands in the moments of the explosion is anybodys' guess...

You see, in the end of the line, neither Greece nor Bulgaria is going to be the ultimate cause of your downfall. You don't really need to move outside of your country to encounter that cause...

Yes, but will Greece remain in the Eurozone? This is what should be occupying your thoughts....

Because EU and NATO created the a puppet protectorate Kosovo. Which today serves as a threat to Macedonia.
While Greece stubbornly rejects a Macedonian NATO membership, you too play a helping hand in not only a Macedonian volatility but one that will affect Greece in the future.

Yet I believe a military alliance between Serbia, Macedonia and Bulgaria would be the best for the Balkans.

Macedonia and Bulgaria Continue Cooperation in Defence

14:47 GMT, May 11, 2012 The Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Bulgaria have excellent cooperation in defence, it was stated during yesterday’s meeting in Sofia of the Mnisters of Defence of both countries, Fatmir Besimi and Anjo Angelov.

In the framework of the visit of Bulgaria, the annual Cooperation Plan between both Ministries was signed. This, as Besimi noted, is one more sign of the excellent cooperation thus far between Macedonia and Bulgaria.

“On this meeting as well, as well as the other meetings thus far that I had with colleagues from NATO member states, they commend the reforms and express recognition of the contribution of the Republic of Macedonia in the international peace missions and support for NATO membership. Of course, in the framework of NATO principles, with the harmonization and settling of open issues that are still in the political plan. The Republic of Macedonia, “de facto” with its contribution, shows that it is a credible partner for NATO”, stressed Minister Besimi after the meeting.

During the meeting, Minister Besimi stressed of the meaning of the membership of Macedonia in NATO, not just for the country, but for the whole region. According to him, the membership of the countries from the region in NATO is significantly important for the peace, stability and prosperity of the region.

“The Republic of Macedonia remains on the commitment for NATO membership and has the support of the citizens in this process. In the Summit in Chicago and after it, we do not see membership in NATO as a goal by itself, but this is part of one longer process that we are running in continuity in the framework of the Euro-Atlantic integrations”, concluded Besimi.

During the meeting they also spoke about several significant regional projects within the SEDM Initiative, as well as projects related with the “smart defence” concept” and regional projects and initiatives that are part of the Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Macedonia and other countries.

Also, during the meeting it was discussed about donations and education of officers from both countries and for similar opportunities, such as the exercises of cadets in the summer camp in Krivolak and other exercises that our country may enable.
