The Russian navy said on Friday that one of its anti-submarine ships had fired artillery at a village by mistake, state RIA news agency reported. Skip related content

The navy said no-one had been injured when a small anti-submarine ship on Thursday opened fire on a village in the Vyborg region of St Petersburg.

"On the 28 May, a small anti-submarine ship from the Baltic fleet was working on a host of exercises in the gulf of Finland including artillery fire at aerial targets," RIA quoted a navy spokesman as saying. "No-one was injured."

The flaming idiots ! Thank God it was a Russian village instead of Finland.. otherwise they would have blasted their country into a diplomatic confrontation with a neighbor (and God knows worse !)
I guess that the idiot that make this atrocious mistake will face the music upon return in Kronstadt ?

It depends who you ask about that!

Viipuri was part of Finland until April 1940. The Finns ceded that city and other land as part of the peace agreement after Stalin's failed war of conquest.

Good point. I still hope that Karelia will be returned one day..
