Johnson Matthey Announces the Expansion of its Autocatalyst Plant in Macedonia
Johnson Matthey will today hold a ground breaking ceremony to mark the start a major expansion project at its emission control catalyst manufacturing plant in Macedonia
09 May 2012
The project is being undertaken in response to rapidly growing demand for more sophisticated, complex catalysts to meet tightening European emission control legislation coming into force over the next few years. This legislation covers both light and heavy duty vehicles as well as non-road applications such as construction and agricultural equipment. The expansion will be carried out in two phases at total cost of around £50 million and will double the existing capacity of the plant. The expansion project will result in the creation of more than 100 additional jobs.
The ceremonial ground breaking will be performed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, His Excellency Nikola Gruevski and Larry Pentz, Executive Director Environmental Technologies Division, Johnson Matthey. It will be attended by other senior representatives of the Macedonian Government and of the Technological and Industrial Development Zone (TIDZ) in which the plant is located. Also attending will be the United Kingdom Ambassador, His Excellency Christopher Yvon and senior global and European regional management of Johnson Matthey’s Emission Control Technologies business.
