Greece's party leaders and President Karolos Papoulias, at one of their meetings on setting up new government, agreed that Athens must impose veto on Macedonia's accession to NATO at Chicago Summit.

According to transcripts of the meeting, published by Papoulias' Cabinet, Greek party leaders pointed out that Macedonia's accession to NATO was not on the Summit's agenda. However, if there were attempts for raising the issue Greek representatives at the summit should impose a veto.

The discussion on Macedonia at the meeting, held yesterday, was raised by the leader of right-wing Independent Greeks party, Panos Kammenos, who was concerned that at the Chicago Summit his country would be represented by an interim government with limited mandate.

"We wish for even the veto right to be applied for the possibility the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to join NATO under the name 'Macedonia'," Kammenos said.

PASOK (Greek Socialist) leader Evangelos Venizelos said if the issue came up at the Chicago Summit, Greece should act in line with its national strategy and arguments it had prepared as response to the ruling of The Hague-based International Court of Justice.

"Our arguments should be smarter than those presented in 2008. We should make them stronger in a wiser, more intelligent manner," Venizelos said.

Alexandra Papariga, leader of the Communist Party, considers that Greece should veto a possible discussion on the matter, as 'there is no official Greek government." A discussion on Macedonia in Chicago should and could be prevented in any case, Democratic Left party leader Fotis Kouvelis said.

Alexis Tsipras, leader of the coalition of the radical left (SYRIZA), which came out as second best at the recent elections, said a name with geographic determination was a condition for settling the name dispute.

Conservative Nea Democratia leader Antonis Samaras said veto would be inevitable if the issue on Macedonia's NATO accession was to be raised at Chicago Summit.

The talks for constituting new Greek political or technical government failed, which resulted in setting up a caretaker cabinet, under the helm of Council of State president Panagiotis Pikrammenos, the head of Greece's top administrative court. Petros Molyviatis, who served as a Foreign Minister in Kostas Karamanlis' cabinet, is to take the same office in the caretaker government, whose main objective is organise new early elections.

No matter being fascist, communist, conservative or socialist, all of them can't let some fucking stupid countries around to impersonate their history or flirt with their territories.

Greeks probably benefit the most from the imaginary dispute anyhow. It's basically keeping Bulgaria weak because North Macedonia is kept out of EU and NATO. And if Bulgaria is weak, it can't push claims on all of Macedonia.

Ach... the thing is: haven't the Greeks got anything.. more useful to do right now ? How about trying not to go bankrupt ?

Actually, NATO agreed not to bring the issue on the table in the first place... Not that it would pass...

Yes, they have to try to reassure the voters of the Independent Greeks that they have no reason to vote for their party again, and trust New Democracy instead, who is opposing Tsipras, who is shaking Europe right now.

You see, you have to side with the Greek nationalists, if you wish to keep Greece in the Euro... It's a hard bargain.

FYR Macedonia was what we agreed on back in 1993. Only the Greeks have gone back on the agreement.

United Nations Security Council resolution 817, adopted unanimously on 7 April 1993, after examining the application of the Republic of Macedonia for membership in the United Nations, the Council recommended to the General Assembly that Macedonia be admitted.

However, the Council also noted the differences that had arisen over the name of the state and welcomed the Co-Chairmen of the Steering Committee of the International Conference on the Former Yugoslavia for their efforts to settle the dispute. For this reason, the Council decided that the state should be admitted under the provisional name of the "former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" until the dispute was resolved.

FYR Macedonia was what we agreed on back in 1993.
Fyrom is a temporary name until we both agree on one-final name.
That's what we - both countries - are talking about all these years.

The provision dealt with FYR Macedonia being allowed to be admitted to international organizations including UN, NATO, World Bank, EU, etc etc under FYR Macedonia provision name. It didn't mean only we be allowed to be admitted to UN and blocked from EU and NATO. Samaras wants to see Macedonia destabilized as result of the blocking but we won't let it happen, sorry...

And the provision dealt was not to use vergina star either, or provoke your neighbors, too, but didn't see that NOT happening.
Either way, we have the power to veto, and we can do it anytime.

Samaras and every other Greek leader, don't care of your stabilization. They care about stoping and new-born country, impersonating and plagiarizing our history.

Kutlesh Sonce hasn't been used officially since 1993. :coffee:

Sweetie, don't you realize you benefit the most from Macedonia-Bulgaria split? If you let Macedonia remain apart from Bulgaria which is certian to happen with entry into NATO and EU then Bulgaria won't be able to recover. On the other hand, if you continue to refuse to recognize Macedonia and if one day Macedonia is magically destabilized thanks to Greek spies agitating Albanian retards then it is annexed to Bulgaria as a result... and Bulgaria becomes stronger, and they will have designs on Aegean Macedonia once more.

Do you think that the problem is about Fyrom and Bulgarian being apart?
We don't want any irrelavant Slavs to impersonate our history, what is so hard to understand?
