Law prof to geneticists: keep racism out of science

A University of Alberta law professor is urging caution and precision in the field of genetic research to avoid a flare-up in racist attitudes.



Stressing DNA differences could exacerbate prejudice

So the truth is inconvenient is it? good to see a law professor with that opinion

Caulfield decided to explore the issue last spring after he had an informal discussion with University of Toronto medical professor Dr. Abdallah Daar.

Daar said race is biologically significant and worth studying at a genetic level; Caulfield said race is a social construct and inaccurately represented in research.

Please note the scientists name here, I expect that's the only reason he still has a job. Why would a law professor have a better grasp of medicine than a professor in that field??

Pathetic. And these call themselves "scientists"? Yeah, horses, apes, dogs and cats have different breeds and subspecies', but humans don't. They are a magical species, of which every single individual is "equal".

Law professor should go talk with some geneticist. They could tell him that the studies are made to find those differencies. Those guys dont do the studies for our anthro purposes but mostly for big $$ medical companies whom are looking to get into genemedicene. There are myriads of different diseaces which are strictly inherited, thats in the genes.

Or howabout the CCR5D32 mutation, which creates HIV-immunity in Europeans. Would the law professors like to deny millions of Aids infested Zimbabveans possible cure because it proves that Euros are not exactly made from the same stuff as Zimbabveans ?
