Would guess Berid.

Berids. They look Portuguese. But at the same time I could see them passing many places.. Greece, Turkey, Sicily, even southern France oddly enough.

Berids. They look Portuguese.

They look Southwest Europeans, which is what they are, no idea why people need to point to one specific location.
Anyway, Berid it is.

Because they remind me of Portuguese relatives of similar age on my mom's side.

They don't look specifically Portuguese at all in my opinion. The guy on the left looks Sicilian, some sort of Dinaricized Cro-Magno-Mediterranid. The guy on the right looks Berid, and could fit from western Iberia to southern Italy.

The one on the right could fit in Greek islands or Turkey, too.

Both look like Berids to me.

They both look very distinctly Iberian to me.

Probably. When I look at them, though, I think of Sicily and not Iberia. If I didn't know, Sicily would be my first guess.

Probably because they are roundish with square heads, which is part of the image people think of as stereotypically Sicilian. Short, round, with a big square head.

Would the Sevillian girl I posted earlier be a Berid - that was my first thought when I saw her: http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49890

I often see men classified as Berid, but I have never seen any Berid women posted. If the woman above is not Berid, can someone post someone who is?

Berid is like these.. not a bad look for a man, but truly primitive looking for a woman.

She's more an Atlanto-Cro-Magnid mix rather than a pure Berid, or you can put it as Atlanto-Berid if you prefer.

Haha, the girl in the middle is not too bad though.

Does she look Berid in this photo (when her hair is pulled back you can see her features better) - quite primitive features:

Labrador, what would be your second guess for the men in this thread if not Portuguese?

Yes.

Berids look similar to Berberids (southern Cromagnids) from North Africa, in some ways. I suspect whatever migration brought the Berid type to SW Europe, is responsible for the minor Northwest African genetic component there today.

First guess would be Sicilian for both, then I'd put the man with the rather hooked nose in the Levant and the other one in the Iberian peninsula, either in Portugal (probably in Alentejo and Algarve) or Spain (more likely in Andalucia or Murcia).

To me the one with the pointy nose looks very Sicilian, but the other guy has too much flat features to be able to actually fit. Due to his stature and square head, the overall look is kind of there, but not when you really look at the face.

Maybe the Berids were what ancient, pre-Celtic Iberians looked like. This is just speculation, though.

I think they are connected to North Africans, given that the places in Southern Europe where the Berid type is present, are the ones who have a minor North African component. Greece has no Berids nor North African element in their genes, for instance.

A lot of Berids, to me, have almost pseudo-African features. That's how I find them so distinctive.

Probably the earliest Iberian populations came from there during the Neolithic, so there it is.

I agree. Which to me leads back to North Africa as the explanation for the Berid type, and its higher presence in places in Europe with a NW African genetic component.
