I just got this e-mail from DNA Tribes, offering a free analysis for selected Eurogenes Project members who are willing to become part of their reference pool...

For free DNA Tribes SNP analysis, interested Eurogenes participants can fill out our grandparent form (http://dnatribes.com/snpdiscount.html) and email their zipped genome file to snpsubmit@dnatribes.com between now and June 1, 2012. Eurogenes participants will not need to enter an order through our website after submitting grandparent information.

Just a side note, it is required that you are of single ethnicity. In order to participate in the SNP analysis.

BUMP. I don't want this thread to wallow into obscurity just yet.

I have a confirmation email from yesterday morning. It'll be ready in 3 to 5 business days.
Their grandparent form only asked for birthplace of each grandparent, not for ethnicity.
I entered the birthplaces of my grandparents (town & state. all born in USA) and sent my file.

All you're required to do is complete the form, then after that, send your raw data as an attachment to snpsubmit@dnatribes.com. You don't have to finish the ordering process.

Good deal, sent my raw data over, hopefully they can use it.

Did you get the free one? I got an email back saying that I wasn't one of the eligible for the free one but still can get a discounted price of $29.99.

I think it's probably because you have to be of a single ethnicity.

According to the ancestry listed in Elizabeth's profile my ancestry is more homogenous (75% British Isle's, 25% Continental Euro) so I'm unsure how one can get the free while another cannot in this instance.

That's strange, did you explain to them that you were affiliated with the Eurogenes Genetic Ancestry Project. Did you give them your project ID?

Yes, the free one.

I never did their SNP before.

A long time ago I did their STR tests (various STR updates).

The free one is for Eurogenes members who have not already done the SNP.

Maybe they turned you down because you put 75% of this and 25 % of that.
Should have just put city/state and USA for your grandparents and that's it.
All 4 of your grandparents were born in the USA, right?

I think they'll add me to their reference pool as "East Coast White American, U.S.A." or something like that, because all four of my grandparents were born in the USA. All were born in East Coast states.

I took their old STR test over two years ago, Canary Islanders were my highest match:eek:

I did the various STR updates and my matches always varied. I match nearly half of their entire database, if counting from 1.00 and above, in the extended reports.

I always had some form of Iberia (Spain or Portugal or Basque) in my top twenty, and Flemish.

Other top twenty matches included Syria, and Bahrain, and Azores.

My results have not been completed yet, though I already received the e-mail, confirming that my SNP analysis is being processed two days ago.

I received mine and posted it at the ABF forum, but in the Eurogenes thread. Several people have already posted their results there today.

I did what Pallantides did and made a brand new Apricity thread for my results:

The results could be more accurate, but since it was free I won't complain.

Besides I got 1% Arctic:D

It would be interesting to see evon's results and how they compare to mine.

I'm not a Eurogenes member but I could get the "Grandparent Info Discount" (price of $29.99) anyway. Not sure if it's worth it though..
