I've heard the Baltic and Ukrainian volunteers were especially effective at rooting out Communist partisans. That was the cesspool of the war, a true no-prisoners approach. While the anti-partisans held public mass hangings, the Soviet scum operated far worse, mutiliating and desacrating corpses, and sometimes still-living captives in repulsive manners.

May these Latvian heroes stay remembered, and their legacy kept alive forever!
